I tell any family or friends of the family that ask about my brother and me " we have a mutual disrespect for each other " . Now that may sound like I'm taking the high road by not going into detail of what an a****** he is, but I'm really not, see I know my brother, and when that family member or friend of the family goes and asks him what I meant by that ,
He gets all pee pee hearted and then tries to explaine that I'm nuts and have some stupid fantasy about the insurance money and Larry's bills and his kids , which of course makes him look like a what???
If Larry's kids had a dollar for every time their uncle has thrown himself under the bus, they would have a little pile of dollars.

Mutual disrespect for each other, yeah I think that kind of sums things up and after what he did,I don't blame you one bit.
I tend to tolerate people for a while, but once that toleration point is reached, they're gone.
I've had to tolerate this POS brother of mine because of Mum and Dad, but no more as he said of his own Mother??,May he rot in hell.

If only 'Hells' reservation desk phone number was listed in the local book ,, I'd gladly call ahead and make arrangements to be sure he was made as uncomforatble as possible for eternity ,,,,,

I come from a large family of 12 children.

Nothing shows just how different siblings really are until there is a death of one of your parents...

The true colors of most people come out then and there no matter how they were raised.. It's in them as a person to be like that and some it's not... In my opinion it had nothing to do with how our parents raised us..

We became who we are because that's who we are no matter how we were raised.

How can siblings who were raised by the same parents or grand parents be so different as adults ?
It's like a sibling will completely forget what he/she was taught about values and beliefs .

What are your thoughts on how people who are raised by the same parents turn out so different on issues that are basically the foundation of the values and beliefs they were taught growing up ?

Rebelling against suppressive jurisdiction.

If the parents were too demeaning, conservative or suppressive the children will grow to resent them also associating what they stood for as part of that resentment.

Here's an example Twilight Zone can confirm:

1950's television was too heavily Puritan influenced. Like holding a beach ball underwater the (seemingly) prosthetic Cleaver family encouraged Serling to come running forward with stories about robots and aliens.
