@Well Said

The Confederate Battle Flag means nothing to me, other than maybe two many guns and not enough beer. So I had no idea that people held such strong opinions about what it represents. In the South, white people think of it as representing a mouse giving a lion the finger before a lion eats the mouse. African American people also see themselves as the mouse, except that they see the lion more in the form of a lamb.

An industry here in the United States makes its living by reminding us about how the white mouse enslaved the black mouse. They want us to remember how as WEB Du Bois might have said, slavery damaged “The Souls of Black Folk.” With that in mind, one would think that the black mouse would want the Confederate Battle Flag as part of its battle cry.

You forgot the bug zapper. Can't have much fun without that at a redneck partay!

It doesn't belong on a government building. It's a defeated country. We don't fly the flags of defeated countries on our current government buildings.

Fly it in your yard, on your house, from your car windows... I don't care. As long as you follow your county, state, city, HOA rules. Just keep it off the damn government buildings.

It was moved from the building to a war memorial. A memorial to a historical period in the state. I didn't see anything wrong with it being there.

But, I got no dog in this game...

... Is Mississippi going to change their State flag?

It's part of Florida's as well. I see no reason that a state flag should be altered.

A flag from a defeated country has no business on a state building. Period paragraph. That's the way it works. Deal with it.

Fly it on your house, on your hard, from your car. Wear it on your shirt, put it on your overalls. Put it on your jewelry or even in your hair. I don't care.

It doesn't belong on any state building.

This isn't rocket science folks.

Build a bridge and get over it.

Good call. My mistake.

Looks like Georgia and Mississippi are the only ones with it on it. Eh, I'm not huge on the state's official flags being altered. If it's done I'd rather it come from the states - like it did with the removal of the confederate flag in Georgia.

That's what fries me about these people that are so up in arms about the removal of the confederate flag. A conservative governor elected by a conservative electorate in a conservative state decides to remove it in response to the horror of the church shooting but it's somehow being banned by us socialist fascist commie liberals. Not really a mistake.

We, Floridians, did have a governor who was so ill informed and stupid that he thought he was cleaver enough to hid the confederate flag in the old Spanish flag.... but he was an idiot.

As always, the truth is not simple and straight forward.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The South Carolina Senate voted Monday to pull the Confederate flag off the Capitol grounds, clearing the way for a historic measure that could remove the banner more than five decades after it was first flown above the Statehouse to protest integration.

A second vote will be needed Tuesday to send the proposal to the House, where it faces a less certain future. But Monday's 37-3 vote was well over the two-thirds majority needed to advance the bill.

If the House passes the same measure, the flag and flagpole could be removed as soon as Gov. Nikki Haley signs the papers. The flag would be lowered for the last time and shipped off to the state's Confederate Relic Room, near where the last Confederate flag to fly over the Statehouse dome is stored.

The United States National anthem should be routinely supplemented with a Waylon Jennings coda

not sure how they could do it. Maybe when the black football players take a knee, the white football players could get on their backs and ride'em like horses.

How bout them Duke Boys?!!
