I thought I understood he wanted to keep the name Bruce and the he pronoun for now. Though I didn't see the interview myself. Soo I could be wrong.

Personally, id defere to someone's preferred pronoun/name.

abc usually pick friday nights, to put on this so-called high rating interviews. because they hardly anything on other primetime channels. only thing, i taped on friday, " grimm " ," hawaii five-0 ", and " blue blood ". i couldn't less about bruce jenner. so, he want to be a woman, who's cares. abc had 17 million viewers, with two weeks of commericals promonated it. what a surprise? i didn't watched or taped it. bruce's family is exciting and boring as paris hilton walking her dog. how sad american television today, too much crab reality garbage is on. really does matter bruce change his name and his boob's size?

Do you know him? Do you have occasion to speak to him often? If so, I would ask him yourself. If not, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I'm fairly certain that he's not the least bit worried about you.

Skunkie, I want to start off with I like you so what I am about to say is not meant, rude, mean, hostile, in a fighting way or anything, just conversing with good intent.

I know you don't have bad intent with your post and you mean it as a joke but...there are so many people struggling living as a gender they are not and scared to come out because they are the brunt of jokes, mockery etc that your joke could be perceived in a way I think you do not mean and could hurt anyone reading this and possibly going through it themselves.

I think the important thingies it's what he wants. If he wants to be referred to as he or she or keep his name or change it and we all just accept it and abide by his wishes.

I think because the gay and transgender community has been persecuted, rejected, attacked, mocked and ridiculed, what we who never went through that think is a joke, might be not so funny but sensitive issue for them.

Actually, the traditionally proper form of address in situations like these according to standard practice is Cubby Wubby Woom Woom Dingle Dangle Dongle Doggie Bowow Cherry Cherry Boochie.

And every time Cubby Wubby Woom Woom Dingle Dangle Dongle Doggie Bowow Cherry Cherry Boochie is referred to, either in second or third person, you have to use the full title.

Even if I had the chance to meet him, I wouldn't. Mostly because of all the damage his "reality" show has done, but also because I don't give a crap either way.

I just was wondering because I saw it on the news ticker under "Breaking News" and while it said that Bruce Jenner was officially a woman, it kept referring to Mr./Mrs. Jenner in the male pronoun and I wasn't too sure how he/she identified now. Some news stations were saying 'he,' others 'she,' so I was just curious, especially because of how important self-identity is.

Not that I even have an interest. It's just that they literally tried to pass it off as 'Breaking News' on CBC.

It's nice that he/she's still got a lot of support from a political party that normally wouldn't be the most welcoming to someone else in his/her position, though.

Too true, Dorky. I meant it sort of as a joke, but I was also a bit curious because both CBC and CTV were trying to pass off Bruce Jenner officially becoming a woman as 'Breaking News.' If it were someone else who wasn't famous, it probably wouldn't even make the news, plus I hate what he stands for in the case of his 'reality show,' so I didn't pay too much attention.

However, I noticed that they kept alternating between male and female pronouns, even when they were talking about it so it seemed like they weren't too sure either. Last year during my work placement program, we had some people come in from the LGBT alliance on Robson (They had a different name, but I can't remember what they were called), and they were talking about that. One of the speakers, Murphy, used to be a woman but he always self-identified as a man back when he was only 8. He practically spent 16 years of his life hiding who he was from his family because he was so afraid of how they'd react. His brother was the first person who he told and right off the bat, his brother was nothing but supportive. And about 2 years ago, he had the last bit of his surgery finished up, which was really cool.

As I mentioned near the top of my post when I was addressing boxer, I was mainly wondering. But I understand how my post might be interpreted as poking fun, so to any transgender members/lurkers who might have been offended or thought I was taking a potshot: I wasn't. I was planning on elaborating a bit more much earlier today but I was on a bus from Kamloops back here, so I had no computer access. Whoever you identify as, good on ya. You are amazing and beautiful no matter who you are. Stay classy.

Also, I know your post was in no way meant to be mean, Dorky. You were just doing what you do best: looking out for others. So thanks for that.

Thank you for understanding my intent.
I would never ever think you were making fun of or mocking a gay person or transgender person because that is not your character. Topics like these are just so sensitive that extra care is needed.

I did not see the interview so I am not sure if he wants to be referred to as he or she so I am referring to him as he until I know different and if his preference is she, I will change it. I know one friend he left his man name and it's good to refer to him as he but another changed to a female name and prefers she. So I think it's up to the person and their preference and as long as we are accepting, try and have good intent, I think no one minds if we forget and use wrong gender or we are stumped and do not know what gender to use. It's opening the dialog for us to be educated and learn.

I have no idea why this is big news. I mean, it really only impacts him and his family so why all the news networks need this as breaking news and 24/7 coverage on it is beyond me. I have no idea why they can't allow people to just be themselves instead of all this fuss.

It's good in the sense of opening dialog and acceptance but the news channels need to tread carefully, it's a slippery slope.

Even at my work, there was a gay man who wore heels, a man at church was gay and I guess liked to carry a purse, no one made a fuss, no one stopped and stared, no one cared.

I once went to a gay bar and being straight saw the half naked man poster on the door and thought it was the ladies room. I ended up in the mans bathroom with many drag queens who for a second thought I was in drag and saw my mini skirt and said, you tuck well. Then they realized I was a straight girl and got confused on the bathrooms. Lmao

Agreed and a joke is a joke right? Not meant to be taken seriously.
