Officer John T. Moynihan, a 34-year-old who has been with the department since 2008, was transported to Boston Medical Center. Moynihan is listed in critical condition and remains sedated; however a senior Boston Police source said Saturday morning that he "had a good night" and is expected to survive and recover, NBC reported.

The 41-year-old suspect, identified as Angelo West, was killed in the shooting on Humboldt Avenue after police returned fire. Boston Police and the Suffolk District Attorney's Office have launched a thorough investigation and will determine if police were justified in the shooting death.

"One of the occupants of the pulled over motor vehicle came out, he turned, he fired, he shot one of our officers under the right eye."

God bless him and I wish him a full recovery. I'm sure it will only take a few days for it to turn into something about race or excessive force.

Yeah. You know something though?

I'm glad no one is going to burn down the city because a cop was shot, and seemingly unprovoked. I'm not being sarcastic. I'm glad that's not going to happen.

I understand what you mean. It's been so heavy on my heart the past few months to the point, I just turn the tv off.
With my father being a first responder, to see such blatant disrespect for police these days, it really gets to me and I am sure it does to you as well with the job you do.

I understand the anger at excessive force but now when a police officer just asks for ID responding to a 911 call, no one listens, it's all about I know my rights and I'm not listening. It's pretty simple, listen and do what's asked, if you feel your rights are violated, make a complaint later.

A white police officer having any interaction with someone not white in which the interaction is negative, it's all about race.

I have never seen the media spin everything to race like this, people eating it hook, line and sinker and now race relations seem at such a tension.

Don't do that sis!
It's not about cops- it's about BAD cops.

It happens all too frequently to good cops sadly:
“Around 4 p.m., Navajo Police received reports of an armed man holding his family hostage with an AR-15 assault rifle,” the Navajo Nation said. “An officer responded to the domestic violence call and was fired upon by the suspect, who then fled the scene.”

Police officers from the Window Rock and Crownpoint police districts descended to participate in the manhunt, the Navajo Nation said.

“Around 10:30 p.m. tonight, we received word that the suspect was shot to death in Red Valley, Arizona,” the Nation said. “The suspect shot two Navajo Police officers, and one officer died at the scene. The other officer is at Shiprock Medical Center.”

The tribe did not say what condition the officer was in. CNN noted that “it was not immediately clear” whether the suspect had died “from a shootout with police or a self-inflicted wound.”

Perhaps for me and you but I have seen people on FB condem white police officers for killing black youths/men before the whole story is given. It's not always about bad cops, for many, they make it a race issue.

True. But we need not bring that up unless it becomes an issue.

But lately that's all that comes up. The media does it, hypes up the race issue and so do many people. When all we know is the police officer was white, the person shot was not, it's always considered by many to be excessive force and about race. Anyways, I truly did not mean to make this about race, it was just the first thing my mind thought of late last night when I read this. I'm just waiting for it.
