Since this latest TV deal the schedule has been all over the shop. If you want to follow the game properly you need Foxtel, a problem for many sports in this country. It used to be a advantage the AFL had over the NRL for example, most AFL games were exclusively free to air, now Foxtel gets all games and less games free to air.
This has had an effect on the equalization they are now talking about. With Twilight games all over the place smaller clubs are banished to Foxtel which gives them limited chance of exposure which limits catching the eye of young fans. Some say prime time slots are for those who perform well but that's a load of s***, Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon will always get their exclusive block busters and time slots regardless of where they finish ladder wise.
If the AFL were fair dinkum about getting the comp equal money wise for other clubs they'd banish the shocking Eithad deal Bulldogs, Saints and Roos got and give them a larger chunk of Friday night games. Instead they try to slog fans for it which I don't agree with.
I 100% agree with this. The Friday and Saturday night games should be split more evenly. Yes, the bigger clubs need more games for the sake of the game generally, but we should all get to see our clubs play on free to air, not just followers of the big clubs. Entrenching inequality will ultimately harm the game. Even if they played other teams as delayed replays it would be better than nothing.
