Smorgan tried something different and thus far hasn't worked, and now we hear from Gordon how Western Melbourne is one of the fastest growing regions in Australia. That's all well and good but most of the families moving to these areas will probably already be set in which ever club they already follow. It would take years and some very smart marketing from the club to convert kids and memberships to the Western Bulldogs. Hopefully we can but our history isn't a strong one for it.

Who do you follow btw Shadowen?

I think most families moving to western Melbourne follow soccer or Hamas Either way, Aussie rules is not something the majority of them are likely to give a toss about.

Why would Essendon want Hird back when they've got one of the best coaches of the modern era at the helm?

aye. Still Hird will be back next year. I guess if bomber if fair dinkum and he really only wants the gig for one year. Will be interesting to see what he's doing next year. He certainly seems very relaxed and actually enjoying himself. Wonder if come the end of the year he might find that he still has the desire to be a senior coach

Will be interesting to see, he could have any senior job he pretty much wanted if he wanted to make a return.

very surprised that sydney allowed maxwell to play as a loose man in defence for the entire game. Countless attacks broke down because he had no opponent. Esp in the last quarter

saw some of the dees match this arvo. Jeez the skill level was terrible at times. Watched one passage of play where three handballs in a row over a distance of less that 7 mtrs all missed their target.

Roos has one hell of a challenge on his hands.

Hard to see how the dees wont finish with the wooden spoon

amazing to see that just 4 goals in total were kicked in an entire half of footy btw the doggies and North.

personally i'm against having a limit on the number of interchanges. I would prefer to see two interchange and 2 subs with no interchange limit.

Also gotta say it annoys me when they talk of the grand final replay btw Hawthorn and Freo. If freo win they wont suddenly become the 2013 premiers as its NOT a grand final replay but rather a match btw last years grand finalists.

I don't get what the sub rule adds to the game at all or what the point in a interchange cap is.

as i said, i reckon there should be no interchange cap. I would like 2 interchange and two subs with two emergencies. The emergencies should be able to be injected into the match if a player is forced off due to injury. In this case the player who has been replaced by the emergency player should automatically not be available for the next match. This would keep things at a more level playing field. At the moment you can have a player injured in the opening quarter and be replaced by the sub. This leaves the club at a disadvantage for most of the match. If another player is injured the team can find themselves down a man and with their sub already activated.
