I have read many symbolic commentaries on a variety of people. They are interesting because they cast people in interesting lights.

In his autobiography, Bret Hart used the reference "generally happy gorillas" to describe the Steiner Brothers. He said that "Rick, the older of the two, was generally more easygoing. Scotty had a mean streak a mile wide, but only if you gave him reason."

What kind of people do you envision the Steiner Brothers as being?

I recently discovered on a website whose author posted information contributed by friends and old magazines. Rick and Scott both graduated from the University of Michigan with degrees in physical education. They were all Americans and began as amateur wrestlers. They were raised on a farm, where they raised goats, chickens, etc.

How does this information support Bret Hart's view of them being happy gorillas? Was it the farm work?

Yes, it was absolutely the farm work.

The Steiner brothers remind me of very insightful and intelligent people. If you can read subtext, it would be full of irony and sarcasm.

Well, they do show intelligence. Both are decent people at heart.

To my point of view, Rick is an amiable person who wants to help others make the right choices in life. He reflects this in his work as an estate agent and in the opinions of him given by other people. He's a tough guy to be sure, but has a strong devotion to others who want to do something positive.

Scott is a friendly person as well, but he's more guarded. The Honkey Tonk Man described him as "not the easiest person to get to know by any means, but when you get to know him, he is a gentleman, a sweetheart." I envision him as someone who doesn't trust others until they prove to him that they're not a threat. He can tell the difference between nice and unkind people, which means that given time and effort, he can be made a friend of.
