GROUP A

A1 Brazil
A2 Croatia
A3 Mexico
A4 Cameroon

Brazil are the standouts and should have no trouble topping this group. The other three teams are all pretty evenly matched. Mexico are perhaps the slight favourites to progress along with the hosts.

GROUP B

B1 Spain
B2 Holland
B3 Chile
B4 Australia

Without a doubt this is one of the toughest groups. Spain may not be quite the team they were 4 or even two years ago...but they are still one of the best teams in the world.
The dutch always field strong teams and should progress along with spain. Unusual for a group to contain the two finalists from the previous world cup.

Chile are no mugs and recently drew 2-2 with spain. The south american location works in their favour. Could well challenge for a top two position.

Australia isnt a soccer nation and this is the weakest team we have fielded in many years. We could easily exit without a point.

GROUP C

C1 Colombia
C2 Greece
C3 Ivory Coast
C4 Japan

This really is a pretty soft group. No team stands out and all sides would fancy their chances of progressing.

GROUP D

D1 Uruguay
D2 Costa Rica
D3 England
D4 Italy

Fair to say this is a very strong group. Costa Rica will be no pushovers but they dont appear to be in the same class as the other three. The sais havent failed to progress past the group stage of a world cup since 1950. This will be a real challenge for them. Uruguay and italy look to be the most likely to progress but the sais will certainly challenge for a top two spot

GROUP E

E1 Switzerland
E2 Ecuador
E3 France
E4 Honduras

A pretty soft group with no standouts. France have been very inconsistent in recent times but possess the most talented players. At this stage one would expect the swiss to join them inthe round of 16 though ecuador and even honduras will fancy their chances against the europeans.

GROUP F

F1 Argentina
F2 Bosnia Herzegovina
F3 Iran
F4 Nigeria

Argentina are the stand out team and if all goes to plan they could well meet brazil in the final. Bosnia are under-rated whilst nigeria has been very inconsistent. Iran should give a decent account of themselves but seem the least likely to progress.

GROUP G

G1 Germany
G2 Portugal
G3 Ghana
G4 USA

I really rate the Germans and they should top this group. Portugal have some tremendous talent and should finish 2nd. The yanks have at the moment arguably their best team in a very long time and could take points of the europeans. Ghana look a little out of their depth but are still a decent side.

GROUP H

H1 Belgium
H2 Algeria
H3 Russia
H4 Korea Republic

Belgium should top this group with perhaps Russia the team most likely to join them. That said algeria and korea will rightly fancy their chances of progressing to the round of 16

Being English I predict that after June 24th I'll be watching the knockout stages as a neutral.

There are three really strong groups with this being one of them. It would take a really good effort for england to progress

Id like the gunners to win the premiership because they at least try and play football the right way, not only that but they don't have a billionaire owner simply throwing money at them to buy the premiership.

Problem is I don't think they will, they've had an amazing start but you always get the impression they're always 1 game away from it all going downhill, I reckon it will be between Man City and Chelsea, with Man Utd finishing outside the top 4.

And Allem's an ass, Hull City shouldn't change their name.

I know what you mean re the gunners. There best 11 is very good but the problem is they dont have the depth of the big guns. The tradionally crowded fixture list over Christmas and New Year is certainly going to test them and you feel they are just one or two injuries away from falling off the pace.

As for Allem...just shows he has no emotional investment in the club...its just all about money.

Allem's a business man, all he cares about is the money.

I know he saved the club from going under with his investment, and technically, yes he can do whatever he wants with his club, but when he continually repeats his "I pumped X amount into this club" what he fails to understand is the amount of money the fans have put into the club over the past 100 years, which is a hell of a lot more then he has.
The fans were there before he arrived and they'll still be there after he's gone.

The fans loved him when he first arrived, now he's pretty much undone all his good work with his "its my club, no-one can tell me what to do, I can do what I want with it" attitude, apparently tradition, the fans and history count for nothing.

I agree with you regarding Arsenal, I think their strength in depth will eventually go against them in the end, but I think a couple of quality signings like Ozil (not more cheap, unknown players) and I reckon they'll be challenging for the title next season.

Id say top 4, but it will be close.

1) Man City
2) Chelsea
3) Arsenal
4) Liverpool
