Is this just a new way to profile minorities?

Personally don't care what people are wearing as long as they're not hurting anyone. I'm just curious what their legal justification is for this law, on its own merits other than as a likely identifier of criminals to be used to justify searching them.

Basically they are saying saggy pants are a "gateway" to criminal behavior, like marijuana use is to more dangerous drugs.

Speaking of profiling, did you guys know that a lot of graduate programs and medical schools require you to include a photo of yourself with an application?

People who think that profiling and racism don't exist are insane.

What is their justification for needing a photo?

That they help the admission committees "remember" the applicants. The real reason is that they just want to make sure you look like a doctor or whatever.

I don't see how the commitee would need a pic. A name is good enough. I think you are right about the discrimination going on in this case. They probably don't want to accept too many minorities, and if they can't tell by a name, then surely a pic will do the job.

Actually many want to specifically select minorities. Med school enrollments are so small, adding just a handful of minorities and women really affect and boost their "diversity" numbers considerably.

Then you are saying they are discriminating against white males?

Oh, yes, quite a bit. In some cases. In some cases they'll discriminate the other way. The whole photo thing is a big ploy to use some aspect of your appearance as a selection factor.

I hate the baggy saggy pants look. I hate looking at their underwear. I think it looks stupid and moronic.

However they have a right to look stupid and moronic in their clothing style. The government cannot and should not dictate what you wear as long as you are not engaging in public indecency. This is not private property.

This is going to cause some problems for Cocoa and it will end up costing them some money by the time the lawsuit dust settles.

What do you think?

I think what is left of the world wants to be an a*****e.

And as demonstrated to me by most of the people in this small city I live in - It's time to pull away and quietly keep to one's self.

I don't purchase from physical shops to keep the economy steadily flowing.

I work from home.

I don't participate in any way outdoors where I am liable to be judged and harassed for the pants that I'm wearing.
