I personally believe regular law is superior to secular law. The latter is restrictive and unfair. Don't cross the road when the traffic light is red? Don't assault people in public, are two such examples. First of all, we should have the common sense to cross the road when there are no cars . Secondly, we should have faith that life will unfold as it ought to and if it can't, we should be the ones to either make it work or prevent harm from coming to our fellow human beings.

The police shouldn't have exclusive jurisdiction over human rights. They are for the people to maintain and regulate by themselves. Enforcing the law should be done privately. Our business is our business and we should be allowed to attend to it. After all, our animal cousins do. Why shouldn't we?

We don't have laws about crossing the road for pedestrians, we do have the Green Cross Code but that isn't a law. And I think the law is don't assault people AT ALL (unless they've broken into your house).

I'd chose secular law over religious law - it has the ability to evolve with society and, imo is more about protecting people that upholding an idea of morality.

Regular law is conducting yourself in a respectable way, respecting other's privacy, taking it upon yourself to care for your friends and deal with your enemies in your own time in your own way. I like this kind of law because it enables people to realize they have each other and they can depend on their own means to further their own causes, because they believe in what they do.

I'm with LuckyCharms...

What do you mean by "regular law".

I'm sure that you don't mean "religious law", because there are too many religions (christianity, islam, buddhism, hinduism, judaism, etc.) and each one has its own variation on the "law".

So, clarify... then maybe I can vote.

Edit

Too vague... and how is this "regular".

Considering the other option is secular it's not really a hard mistake to make. The OP is pretty vague, some definitions would be nice.

True.

Plus, 'deal with your enemies in your own way' doesn't particularly sound very nice, or fair. Seems like going backwards to me.

I like secular law, and it's definitions and maximum punishments. I think there is enough room for movement in it, police/judges are able to take circumstances etc into account.

I will explain my point of view better so that I can make it clearer.

The worthy, the people who advance themselves through their own excellence, academic and personal, and who earn respect through dedicated effort, should take their places in society, not those who crave power or seek to be associated with people of high positions as a means of inflating their reputations or merely gaining more means. Allowing all to do well only invites the materialistic and go-getter to wield undue power. One example I can think of are the people who seek positions for the pleasure of having them, not the joy that the responsibilities and respect bring them. I once knew a girl who planned to Roman philology, was studying Latin, all so she could attract a rich boyfriend to indulge her every desire. These people we can do without.

Let's set up a bunch of mostly arbitrary rules about what people should and shouldn't do based on what we think is virtuous or admirable, then judge everyone else based on those rules and hold them to a different set of laws based on which of the two groups they fall in.

Very well said. Animals follow this way of thinking and it's created the greatest natural balance in the world. Their self-discipline is the highest of all living creatures and when human beings follows it, they can excel to the greatest heights.

By the way I meant my kudos to be insightful, but a loading error caused me to accidentally choose informative. I'll wait a little longer in future before clicking.

Do you even know the meaning of secular law?

And apparently you are in direct contradiction of your own thoughts because you said regular law should be "respecting the privacy of others" yet you are all involving yourself in the PERSONAL business of a girl who wants to attract a mate. You seem like a very brazen example of a hypocrite who wants the world to do what he says as long as he himself does not have to abide by the same rules

Please tell me this is a bad joke..... well aside from it being a really stupid idea, criminals would just convert to whatever law was most lenient for a start. Maybe one side could be religion with sub-categories for faith, if so, I would convert to Islam.

It's sarcasm. I'm making fun of the idiotic and contradictory ideas in the OP.
