In other words, don't be so quick to marry until you really are sure he/she is a great fit for you.

Yeah it's not the kind of decision you should 'meh' over. Divorce and annulments may be easy enough to get nowadays but it still seems a lot of bother to go through when you could have just made sure you were 100% on the whole marriage thing to begin with.

I agree. People don't need to lower their standards. This planet has 9 billion people.

Why try to marry if you're going to have any type of doubt.

9 billion!

Four helpful guidelines ironclad written-in-stone rules:

1. Take as long as it takes to KNOW who and what your future spouse is.

2. On the other hand, the longer you string your hook-up along, the harder it is to break up when the time comes. If you have long term doubts, bail! NOW!!!

3. Never never never never never take the lazy "our love is fated to be" short-cut. That alone fills the divorce courts. (Homework--watch 500 Days of Summer).

4. Always always always always be honest.

If it's too late to employ these rules or you ignored the signs, don't have children until you're sure, or get a divorce. Children are by far the greatest victims of divorce and should never be borne as an attempt to try to save a marriage.

I personally think a couple should live together before marriage. You can learn so much from living with a partner. It's how I know I want to marry my partner.
