It wasn't a very good convention, that's why. A bumbling lead in speech to Romney's acceptance speech and full of lies and offensive rhetoric all around. The Republicans continue to shoot themselves here, as they have been for the past two years. The ensuing Democratic convention and debates with Obama should only solidify their fate now.

I'm hoping so!

I agree that Eastwood was a mistake and the convention was not as upbeat as it should have been. This campaign will be about the economy and asking people if they are better today than 4 years ago, and most people will have to answer no. Romney will debate on substance and Obama will lose the debates. Obama will get a huge bump next week because he is good at reading a teleprompter and making up lies to the American people. More people are seeing the documentary 2016, which is third in box office. More people are seeing inflation like they never have and more people are seeing this country self destruct. We will ask about Fast and Furious in the coming weeks and someone will have to answer. We will ask why unemployment is still high and someone will have to answer. We will win 2012 and America will have a chance for recovery. YES WE CAN and YES WE WILL

According to a study conducted a few years ago by the University of Pennsylvania-Wharton School of Business (Law & Public Policy) https://knowledge.wharton.upenn.edu/article.cfm?articleid=1843 polls are only useful when conducted under very restrictive conditions. The article reveals most pollsters, even the mainstays, do not meet or try to meet the criteria that would create an accurate poll, particularly in political arenas. Seems product marketing is the only venue where polls get it right more often than wrong.

I've noticed something in my current area, and in the town I formerly lived (about 100 miles distant). My current area in New Jersey is fairly conservative with a heavier Republican base than Democrat. My former area was more liberal with heavy Democrat registration in a university town.

What I noticed is that there is very little in the way of political lawn signs or bumper stickers in either locale for either political party. At this time in 2008, my former town was festooned with both and there was a fair amount in my current town, Cape May, NJ, where we maintained a small shore house. This may be evident in the downturn in viewership of the RNC last week, and may hurt the DNC this week, too.

I think there is a general malaise in which the American voter is fed up with Washington DC and general politics and has tuned out. This is not to say voting will be down. My opinion is that voting in the general election will be very heavy, but the average person has just tuned out the political rhetoric.

Opinion only again, but I think most voters have already made their decision for whom they'll vote and are probably hitting the mute button when the political commercials air.

How is it in your area? Are there a great many homes with political lawn art and Obama/Biden or Romney/Ryan bumper stickers? Probably the closer to DC, the large cities or a state capital, there is likely to be more, but less as you get out to the working (or unemployed) areas.

The lies are coming mainly from your side. Lyin' Ryan & the wacko right will be an albatross on Romney's neck.

Finally a truth you state:
Yes Obama will get a well deserved huge bump next week!

2016 - can you point out the truths?

"Inflation like they never have?" https://www.inflationdata.com/inflation/inflation_rate/historicalinflation.aspx

No can't, & no you won't. Are you better off than 4 years ago?
When we were headed into the repub & Bush led black hole? Yeah!
After taking out what Bush caused- yes! We were Bushwacked then- I'm certainly hoping that people do see that truth and we don't get Bushwacked again.

Sadly this is true.
I'm still in tune and looking at what Obama has done & is doing. ROMNEYdirectional & Lyin' Ryan are expecting us to wait until after the election before they will give us any meat with our potatoes (potatos for Dan Quayle's ilk). I'm not buying that.

Excellent non-partisan link showing the O/B platform & plan and the R/R platform and plan for the presidential election and its aftermath. https://2012.candidate-comparison.org/?compare=Romney&vs=Obama

As I claimed, polls are interesting, but change within hours. Rasmussen just (in the last hour or so) released its poll on who leads who in the presidential slog. https://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/obama_administration/daily_presidential_tracking_poll

I think politics has gotten so contentious, people are afraid to put up signs or bumper stickers for fear their house will get trashed, or especially their car will get keyed or otherwise vandalized--by Democrats anyway. Democrats on the other hand don't put that stuff up because they know how stupid it makes 'em look--well, most of them know.

The Occupy crowd were a bunch of anarchists leaving any area they occupy looking like a demilitarized zone, while Tea Partyers pick up after themselves.

A certain possibility. I still suspect this election is already decided, only the votes need casting. I'm not entirely sold that it will be close election this time around.

I see no one live in OHIO that has posted here.

We don't need yard signs every few minutes on TV or the radio there is another add. Either from the Candidates a Pac or super PAC

44 mil was spent in May and June. Now think what it is like while typing this 2 adds came on

It will only get worse

OHIO elects the next president while the rest of the country waits to see which way we will swing this year.

Over 100 mil. was spent in Ohio in 2008 they are way ahead of that total now

Dare you say landslide, even?

Yard signs and bumper stickers aren't paid advertising. S'a difference.

Some one does have to pay to print them.

Now the reason I do not think you or anyone else are seeing Yard signs is this. Social networks like facebook you claim who you will vote for there.

Yard signs are now becoming like the election buttons not very efficient. All any candidate needs to do now is have a poster for facebook. cheaper faster and reaches more people.

As to the money spent my the Republicans. Please remember they just got the right to spend massive amounts of money now that Mitt is the "Official Candidate".
