Not that I do the cheapskate thing and download entire albums it's just that I don't really listen to anything but net radio set to electronica/dance every once in awhile.

So the folks at Humble Bundle release a bundle of albums from Independent musicians.

I never realized that They Might be Giants were 'independent' but their newest album is up for grabs there none the less.

Humble Music Bundle

Teamed with the folks who did the soundtrack to Civilization IV I couldn't resist and picked up the bundle.

Also, going by the title of TMbG's newest album it sounds as if maybe they're finally admitting that most of their, seemingly nonsensical, songs are centered around underground philosophy ideas?

They Might be Giants...They're the ones who sing the theme song from Malcolm in the Middle right?

You're not the boss of me and you're not so big...and all that jazz?

That's the only song I'm aware of besides Dr. Worm (he's not a real doctor but he is a real worm).

That's them - they've also had a number of songs featured in Tiny Toons.
They wrote my theme song:

Ana Ng and Don't Let's Start we're my favorites from their late 80's heyday.

Yeah, Ana Ng - the whole 'She exists but probably on the opposite end of the Earth.'

It is true though, when I finally got here to NZ this is where all of the really adorable single blondes aged sixteen to twenty five were.

I can relate as well.

Awesome tracks. I had both albums. Actually, I had everything by them up to "Miscellaneous T" and knew the lyrics to every track on all of them.

I was such a geek.

I totally don't have the right to use past tense there either.

Incidentally, I do still buy music but it's usually stuff that's been out for a long time, and in a lot of cases has been out longer than I have.

A lot of times it's on vinyl to boot.

But there is a pretty awesome radio station here in St Louis (KDHX.org) that's almost completely listener-supported and they don't have commercials or play much of anything you'll hear on terrestrial radio elsewhere, and it's a totally eclectic mix.

We have a not-so-awesome radio station up here that is "public radio" that is pretty much local business & listener-supported. I haven't heard commercials on it yet but I know they do local ones so they'd be more like the in-store ads you hear on the music system at the supermarket.

They play a totally eclectic mix as well and all I can say about that is...eclectic isn't necessarily good.

Oh my gosh. I recently (within the last year or two) ran into one of my cassette tapes that I did that with.

My radio looked like this:
