Gary Johnson!!!

I just don't think he has a snowball's chance.

Wow, now you're psychic too.

It occurs to me that it sounds like I'm being snarky but I was actually wondering what his chances were yesterday. I looked up his website after looking at this poll.

I agree that he probably doesn't have a chance, but in the end, we are not the ones to call the game. Our duty is to vote for whom we as individuals feel are best suited to do the job and in that case, it is Gary Johnson. He may not win, but as odd as it may sound, that is not our concern or duty. Our duty is to vote for who we think is right

Not really. I've seen what we get when stubbornly voting for who I thought was right- if they don't stand a chance you might end up with a much worse situation that screws up everything. Sometimes you have to vote for who is better for the country & not who is the right person for you but are not going to be electable.

Sucks when those are both the same person though.

Yeah, I think that is where the thing is. Do we vote for who we really want and probably better, or hedge bets with popular but otherwise crappy choices, know that is pretty much the problem in politics, good people get pushed aside by big money and the same old crap no matter what party they are in?

He, isn't as well known nationally, the republicans pretty much ignored him in the primary after he wouldn't get on board with bachman and the others on some social issues. He basicially got ignored (by not being invited) at all the debates on the national stage, even after he was polling high enough.
He was also a former Governor of mine, so I'm pretty familiar with him, and while he is not perfect (who is?) he would do a good job if given a chance.

Precisely and Someone_else says, Obama and Romney are too similar for any difference to matter considering that they are both constitution killers who run roughshod over the liberties which americans are supposed to enjoy. I voted for Obama because he was better than McCain and there was no other person. In this case, Gary Johnson is superior to both because of his stances on freedom. The problem is that many people share your attitude thus, 3rd party people do not lose rather they lose by a landslide further discouraging any further dissent. This is problematic because it is not how the system was designed.

There have been cases of the president and VP being chosen by someone other than the people in history. If we run 3 or 4 or more candidates and all parties reach a significant count, then the House chooses the president and the Senate chooses VP. Since the House and Senate are currently warring factions, this would possibly force the two groups to work together. Imagine President Romney and VP Obama?

The fact is, the system was designed in a way where we are given a specific responsibility. When we start to "hedge bets" we deserve the monsters we're given because we are the ones who enabled them by our own insecurities

By all means push your third party candidate- I do & have- but when it comes down to voting for snowballs I keep my vote for what's best for the country & do not throw it away.

So you vote for the lesser of two evils even though it isn't what would be best for the country because you know that what's best doesn't have a snowball's chance of getting elected?

Then, as I said, you are part of the exacerbation in that you do not show support for the person whom you do truly support. You hedge your bets and enable people like Romney or Obama.
