A Hill Poll .

I thought this analysis was pretty credible:

"Single women tend to vote for Democrats because they think they may need to fall back on the government for security. Once they marry, their primary concern is their family’s economic well-being, which more often than not leads them to vote Republican."

While the analysis is credible, I don't know about its conclusion. It seems to not take certain factors into account. I think things like job and economic situation would take a more prominent position in deciding political situation than whether or not they're married.

Hey! I always say replace the electric rabbit at the Kennel Club with a twenty note and we could race leather-clad women!

I think most people realize that job creation is heavily tied to the private sector. Government doesn't produce anything, and even an efficient government must necessarily subsist off of that as well.

But the real bugaboo is the first one, relying on government social programs. I'm not totally against them but so many are counterproductive, and suck the economy dry.

A rising tide lifts all boats. Some people just can't see it, while others want all the boats at the same level--except for the one they're in.

All jobs, private and public, rely mainly on two things imo, resources and demand. Keeping that in mind, all jobs are subject to change and are in essence impermanent. With this said, we can't blame government for creating jobs that are in essence impermanent, since the demand then disappears, can we?

Mostly cause its hard to keep track of the money. Keeping track of peoples spending habits is difficult as is. When there are ways around the few restrictions that ARE in place, and a way to liquidate it into cash, which is next to impossible to track successfully at the moment, it just becomes a giant mess.

We've had argument after argument about this, and it's clear we won't see eye to eye on this.

That said, at least we can, I think, be civil about it. Some of the things cropping up recently, on both sides of this argument, are becoming a little too shrill for my taste.

The thing is, government jobs don't produce anything. Government enforces the laws upholding property rights, but even that's been turned somewhat on its head in the last couple of decades.

Shrill and more. The problem is we're on the brink.

C'mon, small unintrusive government is necessary, even for some very limited social programs. But it doesn't produce anything. Government's only mandate is to legislate and enforce the laws that protect our lives, liberty and property, which enables the private sector to produce. Government itself doesn't produce anything.

BIG government obstructs commerce and production on top of not producing anything.

This poll doesn't make any sense at all. They asked a different question about Obama vs Romney and then directly compare the results. It's retarded. I can only assume that whoever conducted the poll is deliberately biased.

Bulls***. Just where do you think the money in the social network goes to? Where does the money used in government projects go? You confuse money from private and money from government as if the latter does not go into the economy.

Well by and large private industry generates wealth while the government inefficiently sucks up and distrubites wealth.

Government jobs create many things. It produces safety, healthy, more comfortable living. Something precisely alluded to in the constitution.

Private sector generates wealth unevenly thus the need for safety nets. Private sector is based on how much can be made with little regard to worker safety, pollution, and environmental protection. That is the role the constitution charges and is filled well by the government.

I'm not talking about roles or whether one is good or one is bad.

I'm just saying that's fundamentally how it is. Private business generates wealth and government consumes and redistributes wealth.

Yeah it makes sense. In any case, it's a newspaper run by a former NY Times editor so if there were any bias.....
