I would bet right now most of you have no Idea what your Insurance will or won't cover.

Good point, insurance companies should have to spell out clearly what sorts of events a policy will or won't cover.

Just one note Homeowners Insurance does not cover flooding of your home.
Insurance companies normally do not cover upgrades for building code work.

The list could go on and on as to what your insurance company does not cover.

I would think that it would be mandatory for homeowners to have insurance that live in those areas.

If you loose your un-insured home to a fire you're just out of luck.
If you loose your un-insured home to a regional disaster then you get to whine for the tax payers to foot the bill for your lack of foresight.

Well, he's mostly right. People should have insurance to cover that sort of thing, or not live in Tornado alley.

There should be some type of emergency loans to help people get through before insurance comes in.

Wow, Tino - mark your calendar! We agree!!

from the link:

"There is no such thing as federal money," Paul said, on CNN’s State of the Union. "Federal money is just what they steal from the states and steal from you and me."

"The people who live in tornado alley, just as I live in hurricane alley, they should have insurance," Paul said.

Paul said there was a role for the National Guard to restore order and provide care and shelter in major emergencies, but that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) led to nothing but "frustration and anger."

"To say that any accident that happens in the country, send in FEMA, send in the money, the government has all this money—it is totally out of control and it's not efficient," Paul said.

I have an answer for that problem. Pull out the policy and read it.

They give loans mostly not free money to homeowners.

My insurance doesn't cover floods or earthquakes. I found out about the earthquakes part last year..

I am covered for hurricane and tornado damage though.

I need to find out if I'm covered for damaged caused by rabid weasels.

If insurance adjuster from the same company can not agreed on what it says and lawyers can not agreed on what it says . Again good luck on understanding it.

If it goes that far, I'd just call our family lawyer and let them fight it out.

Luckily, I live in an area that has never flooded, and my risk of flooding is so low that the increase in premiums isn't worth it.

Rabid weasels on the other hand are increasing in my area with more conservatives in DC.

He's right about where the money comes from. But he is a s*** for how things work best.

I would have to disagree,..when the government steps in to "help" they make it worse. There are plenty of examples in history where the government did not assist natural disaster victims and it actually turned out better that they hadn't
