Now tell me, does that sound like the Apostles believed that God and Christ were equal? After all they are saying that he has a God and Father. If one has a God one cannot be equal to that God.

Romans: Supposedly written by Paul, NOT one of the Twelve Apostles.

2 Corinthians: Supposedly written by Paul and Timothy our Brother... NOT members Twelve Apostles.

Ephesians: Supposedly written by Paul, repeat NOT one of the Twelve Apostles.

1 Peter: Most likely NOT actually written by the Apostle Peter... so NOT one of the Twelve Apostles.

So, does that sound like the Apostles believed that God and Christ were equal?

NO since not one of the Twelve Apostles said anything in your quoted passages.

MCB, look at the Jewish response to Jesus claiming he was the son of God. They wanted to stone him for making himself equal with God. It really is pretty straightforward, to be honest.

However, to further reveal the incorrect doctrine of the JWs, Paul said that Christ was in very nature God, but that he had "emptied himself" becoming less than he was. He also said that through Christ all things were made. John said the Word was with God, and the Word was God... and so on.

Sorry, but I just wanted to add this; I assume this thread is your response to the massive litany of JW errors that I posted on another thread here: https://www.theforumsite.com/forum/topic/when-you-get-disfellowshipped/456189

If yes, why create a new thread? Why only respond to one error? If not, why are you yet again failing to address the issues I have raised with you? *You* continuously claim that you are guided by the spirit of God. Does the spirit of God keep telling you to avoid certain truths? If so, why? Does the spirit of God really want his people to be ignorant of truth? If so, should that spirit be trusted? Is it, in fact, a spirit from God, if it wants you to avoid certain truths?

MCB you spend way too much time trying to convince everyone to believe in insanity.

There is nothing about what you teach that is helpful to anyone not even yourself.

And the Lord God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever." (Genesis 3:22)[3]

That was not their reason for wanting to get rid of him, it was simply the excuse they tried, and failed, to make stick. He never did claim equality to God, in fact he frequently denied it as you should know.

Now who is twisting scripture to suit themselves despite unequivocal statements from two prominent Apostles.

You are so desperate to believe that. Why? Is it just t fit in with your peers? f so then that will not go in your favour with God. Only truth will do that.

And no, I do not insist on that truth to fit in with the JWs I chose to follow then because they agreed with what I had found in scripture as a child.

As for John 1:1 read it in a good interlinear, and you'll see the error in that version which has been altered to prove the trinity by people who removed God's name from scripture for the same purpose.

I am sure you are intellignet enough to see that.

Yes he was by "nature god" in other words HE was a spirit creature in heaven before he came to earth.

Again, twisting the meaning to suit your chosen doctrine.

There is no litany of JW errors, at least not currently. They have made mistakes in the past and have been honest enough to owwn up to them and change thier doctrine to suit what they found in the bible.

Funny isn't it. You accuse them of changing scripture to suit doctrine and in the next breath accuse them of making errors because they choose to alter doctrine to suit what they find in scripture.

Talk about wanting it both ways, lol, surely you can see the contradiction in those two criticisms. The bias, even bigotry in it is clear enough to me and makes a mockery of all you say. It makes ever word you post suspect.

Yes, of course it was MCB. When Jesus said he is the son of God, and the Jews understood that as meaning what it meant to them, namely, that Jesus and God share them same essence, and responded by saying that they were going to kill him for making himself equal with God, and then Jesus responded by saying things like, "I and the father are one," of course Jesus was not saying what he was saying.

Could you tell me where Jesus denied being God?

@MadCornishBiker Said
Now who is twisting scripture to suit themselves despite unequivocal statements from two prominent Apostles.

Well, you, as always. Is it ever any different? You only speak what the JWs say, and thus, you speak their falsehoods.

@MadCornishBiker Said
You are so desperate to believe that. Why? Is it just t fit in with your peers? f so then that will not go in your favour with God. Only truth will do that.

And of course, you believe what the JWs believe just to be different to all the other JWs who believe the exact same thing right? I mean, you believe *everything* the JWs say (by your own words in fact, one cannot be a JW and disagree with the JWs on any key point of doctrine). So, where I agree with some things that Christians believe - mainly, the absolutely categorical statements of Christian faith, I am trying to fit in. However, when you believe *everything* the JWs say, including the multitude of things I have shown you that are unequivocally false, you do it to be different to everyone else that is exactly like you? Am I meant to take this serious?

Do you ever stop and think about the arguments you put forward MCB?

@MadCornishBiker Said
And no, I do not insist on that truth to fit in with the JWs I chose to follow then because they agreed with what I had found in scripture as a child.

Which means precisely nothing. I read the bible as a child and came away with the belief that Christ was God. So what?

@MadCornishBiker Said

I have MCB, which is why I know that it says what it says, not what the JWs say that it says.

So, God's name was removed from John 1:1? Is that the new doctrine of the JWs? Are they able to be consistent at all?

@MadCornishBiker Said
I am sure you are intellignet enough to see that.

So, the JWs now admit that the 1914, 1915 and 1925 prophecies were false prophecies espoused by Russell and Rutherford? When did they finally admit that?

They are now admitting that they had no scholars on their translation team? And, that they lied in systematically misquoting scholars to support their doctrines? Wow, I am impressed. Maybe they will become Christian soon at this rate.

@MadCornishBiker Said

Well, MCB, they do change scripture to fit their doctrine. They add words in John and Colossians etc. And no, I have never said that they change their belief to fit with scripture. I say they change scripture to fit their belief. These two things are not the same. For example, they used to place "other" in Colossians without the parenthesis. They translate all of Christ's "ego eimi" statements as "I am," except one. They quote Jesus "Assuredly I say to you" statements with a comma after "you," every time so far as I know, except one. And so on.

Who is twisting the scripture MCB?

Do the JWs really believe that angels are equal to God?
