The US's intentional homicide rate is between 3 and 8 times higher than that found in other Western Nations. Why does America have such a high homicide rate when compared to other Western Nations?

Their love of, and easy access to guns.

Although a gun loving American will tell you its people that kill, not guns.

There's also a lot of passive aggressiveness going on because people are forever suspicious of each other because no one had the balls to reach out to each other in an honest and direct manner.

Society has just been developed to believe that everyone has an agenda.

Population wise, we're bigger and more diverse than a lot of Western nations.

I think he means the ratio of criminals considering the population size.

Very interesting point seeing as how individuality is in the direction of modernity. And I think it is. I don't think there's anything wrong with Western-style individuality. Therefore, I think the problem lies elsewhere. Maybe there isn't enough gun control in the US?

Yes, why didn't I think of that. Take away enough freedom and the statistics will make it look like we live in a paradise.

As Banana pointed out it was a rate I was referring to so population size does make a difference.

Are you arguing that freedom has a massively detrimental effect then?

Ol' whats-his-face said [ Maybe there isn't enough gun control in the US?] I replied to that assinine statement.

I really think it is mostly because everyone suspects that every one else around is out to take advantage of them in some way.

And then unnecessary Spy VS Spy comic strips ensue.

Edit:

Of course this would also lead to more paranoia and therefor more gun sales.

Toss in Abe's Law of Attraction and as a sorcerer's havoc staff draws in minions from another dimension, guns draw in minions to shoot at.

You know it's against the law to murder someone? That's limiting your freedom. YOU SHOULD HAVE THE FREEDOM TO MURDER ANYONE YOU WANT, gosh darn IT!
