No love or desire in Eden without the knowledge of good and evil.

https://being.publicradio.org/programs/2011/genesis-of-desire/video-zornberg_interview.shtml

Love that is returned is true and good love.
Love, like faith, if not expressed in works and deeds, is dead.

Love that is not returned we do not call evil but it is certainly not as good as love that is returned and shared. Let me call it evil then as compared to good. It misses the mark.

Love then is subject to the qualifiers of good and evil and without any knowledge of good and evil, love cannot exist.

An example of this lack of emotion is shown in this clip.

I see life without the knowledge of good and evil, a moral sense in other words, as mankind just being like any other animal on this earth.

Is it possible that the myth of Eden was initially invented to indicate the birth of mankind’s emotional awakening to love, hate, and all of our other emotions?

God is spirit.
Is it possible that without eating of the tree of knowledge, developing a moral sense and the emotions that drive it, becoming spiritual the way God is, as confirmed by God himself who said that mankind had become as Gods, A & E would have just remained as blissfully dumb as other animals?

Did they and we have to eat of it to become fully human?

Would any of us be silly enough to NOT have done exactly what A & E did and reject this great accomplishment and gift for mankind?

Would you reject the ability to love?

From what I have seen and lived through the exact opposite is true. The innocent, or naive if you prefer, often have and show more love for others than those of us who know Good and Evil too well, and are made cynical by that knowledge.

Your problem and no one else's.
Most go to wisdom.

Thanks for not speaking to the real issue.

Negative and positive forces have always existed since the beginning of the Universe. Man did not create "good and evil", "Yin and Yang" or any other opposing forces in nature IMO. So it has nothing to do with a fruit on a tree.

As far as love goes, I believe it has always been in us and we are born with that capacity although for some of us it has been distorted and crushed by outside factors.
What does it mean to become fully human?

You as, I, seem to live in a natural world, so the bible aside, I agree completely that what we call love is hardwired into us.
We are the only animals who have evolved enough to articulate it in the ways that we do.

As to what is fully human, we all have to answer that for ourselves I think.

This Bishop speaks well to it though.

This is short but his longer ones are worth the listen.

Yes we did my friend.

Who but man can put words to the will of God and declare anything good or evil.
There is only man.

Now we are back to the age old question, What is good and evil?
I still think it is a matter of perspective.
Is there an absolute good or evil? A measuring stick so to speak? I don't know anymore.

So God was bored and lonely yet punished humankind for doing what he wanted. Ok.

You're referring to fundamental religion metaphors and testimonials which doesn't make sense to most people - that's why there are so many questions and speculation.

There may be and the bible might point to it in the genocide that God used in Noah's day.

I can say this because I can think of nothing more evil. Can you?

That is why I read scripture with the O T as the evil part of the tree of knowledge and the N T as an attempt to make God look good. It fails to do so but does show a sometimes goody goody two shoed Jesus.
