Yeah that's possible. Just exercise a bit and try and cut a few hundred calories from your daily diet.

It's possible but a lot of it will be "water weight" That's not hard to loose. I lost 7 pounds of that in less than two days when I was sick and stopped eating.

The question is how long can you keep that weight off without starving yourself. If you work out you may eventually gain weight, or so it will seem to you because muscle has a higher density than fat.

This makes it hard! I am really discouraged because I have a lot of weight to lose!

I've lost more than 17 pounds in 3 months.

My weight loss was facilitated by making a decision to eat healthier, eliminate empty calories, drink more water, and try to get some exercise every day.

My goal wasn't actually losing weight, it was being healthier. The weight loss was really just a bonus, but it was a welcome bonus. I'm still losing weight, but I had a lot of weight that I could stand to lose. The first 2 weeks were actually the hardest for me, when I was eliminating things I was used to from my diet, but now I find that I don't really want the unhealthy things I used to eat. I will occasionally crave something that is not so good for me, but once in a while is certainly not sabotaging me, and in general, I eat very well now.

Don't be, loosing that weight in a healthy manner will take dedication and work but it can be done. JMO was pointing you on the right track. Make some changes to your style of living and it will eventually pay off.

17 pounds in 4 months is pretty fast. Not all weight is bad. 200 lbs of muscle will look a lot different than 200 lbs of fat.

It also depends why you want to loose that weight. If it's just to feel and look better that's great. I don't see any overwhelmingly good reason to try and drop that as fast as you possibly can. It might start you on the path to "yo-yo dieting" and that can be rather harsh on your body and be really frustrating.

Totally possible. You can shed up to a ½ lb per day and remain healthy. Keep hydrated. Stay active. Shy away from processed foods. Absolutely NO FAST FOOD whatsoever. .

You need only to lose less than ¼ lb per day and that is totally doable.

Well, I am overweight, and I actually need to lose a lot more than that, but since I am free this summer, I was thinking about doing everything possible to lose 17 pounds in Four months, I need to get a good start in the summer and keep it up!

This is good, but is it possible without calculating calories or is it the only way to effectively do that?

I lost 30 in just over 3 months

So... yes.

The "no fast food" advice is stupid. You can eat fast food. I did, and still do. Several times a week.

Here's what I've done to lose 40 lbs in 2 years. Just a little under ½ lb per week (very manageable.

1. I stopped drinking sugar flavored soft drinks.
2. I stopped eating Fast Food
3. I stopped eating "processed" food
4. I park my car (when shopping) closest to the exit (usually the furthest from the entrance to the store).
5. I eat more vegetables now days.
6. I've reduced my portions very little
It takes a "want to" attitude to do it. You have to really want to get healthy. Check yourself when you get an urge to munch. Ask yourself, "Am I hungry?" If the answer is "No" then check to see what's motivating you to use food for comfort. Be your own coach. Remember this IS for your health. You can do it!

If you find it is hard to motivate yourself to exercise find a partner to pair up with that way you can go out together and motivate each other. You can look on local forums and craigslist to find someone. Also a huge help is staying away from food before bed, that packs on extra pounds fast, when I cut out eating after 8pm I lost 50lbs in 6months, my biggest issue with weight was eating at night, each person is different though and your issue may be very different from mine. The main focus is your goal, if it is very important to you and you are excited about it you will accomplish it! Enjoy, it can be very life changing!

These are measurable and specific things to do! But I think it will be easier if I work with a team!

I totally agree with the idea of finding a partner! I would have loved to do that with my boyfriend, but he is ok! He is thin and dandy! My best friend is very skinny, she actually needs to gain weight, so that sucks too!
