Is anyone else out there using this yet?

I have been putting off transferring music files from my old laptop, And I thought it might be faster than the save to a drive and move over manually.

However its taking like 2 hours to upload a album. I am not patient enough for that.

Are other people having this experience or is it my internet connection? It possible it is having issues,

Google's version is free with much larger storage and has a far superior Android app.

I'm using it. Uploading my whole collection is taking many days. Only have to do it once though.

I use Dropbox instead, though I haven't got around to transferring any files as of yet. It's meant to be really fast though.

Uploading a 100 MB album can take a while. At a typical cable upload speed of 1 Mbps, that's about 15 minutes per album. At a slower standard DSL rate of, say, 128 Kbps, that's 2 hours.

You only need to upload once though. And the other thing is that if you buy from Amazon, they can deposit the MP3s directly into your cloud drive.

Ok, so taking forever to upload somewhere, is not totally unusual though.

I buy a lot of music from amazon, though, so all the new stuff will automatically go to the right place. I have the iphone rather than a driod.

Hmmm, maybe I need to investigate some more, and maybe do this in a place that has a better upload speed. Getting stuff off the cloud drive and into itunes was just taking a few moments.

Mostly stuff I am moving now is music I don't always listen to, but would like to have, like my husbands stuff, so I guess my patience is even lower for stuff that I'm not doing for myself.

What was I thinking when I decided to combine music libraries?
If your partners music makes you want to punch a puppy, don't be nice and volunteer to manage it. ok its not that bad, I have the overwhelming urge to keep collections (books & music) together and organized.

Before committing to Amazon, wait to see what Apple comes up wtih. They are expected to introduce their own cloud music service in the next few months. Since you already have an iPhone and iTunes, it will probably be significantly more integrated into that ecosystem.

That would be cool, I'll probably wait to upload then, and just get it all together today.

Now if I could just get Apple to organize and alphabetize the way I do

I didn't, I bought some music from amazon last week. I opted not to. But I think i might start doing that (not necessarily amazon, but cloud somewhere) since I have multiple pc's and never know when one might crash.

Dropbox is a great way to store info in the cloud. You don't have enough space for it to be practical for photo and music collections, but it's great for important files or things you want to have frequent access to.

OK so it turns out that iTunes, as part of iCloud, is merely a way to push new iTunes downloads to all your iOS/iTunes devices simultaneously and automatically. No storage of preexisting music, no actual cloud storage.

Ah, they have iTunes Match, which matches up your current songs to songs in the iTunes library and lets you download them to other devices. Still no streaming or online storage.

And it costs $25 a year.
