But they have got plenty of money for this

https://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/features/3522118/8000-students-in-Salou-booze-up.html

These leeching little scroats riot and cause mayhem in London because they say they can't afford their tuition fees and they expect people like me to pay for them to go to university. They dont have any trouble finding money to piss up the wall do they?

I'm with Cameron. Make 'em pay. No public funds for tuition fees. If they can get up off their lazy arses to go pissing up in spain (in between bouts of rioting in London), then the little s***s can get a job and earn their way through university. A bloody good dose of work ethic wont do em any harm at all.

I can fight my own battles and I keep myself fit. Never needed a lawyer and haven't seen a doctor in twenty years. That answer your question?

if you take any large protest group, be it student protests, job cut protests or anything else,
there will be a rogue element within that group that causes problem, this rogue element is a minority and doesn't represent the whole group, its just media like the sun who like to portray the whole group as that minority, in order to sell more peoples, after all there's nothing like a bit of outrage to boost sales.

students don't use tuition fees for holidays, there used for....tuition fees oddly enough,
and how you connected the protests to these holiday makers god knows.

Fair one. But in case you were thinking of doing so, consider it answered in advance. There, I've done you a favour by saving you the trouble of asking. I'm all heart, me.

At least not until the libs show up. lol

You do realize that there are lots of students, and in general the ones who can't afford tuition are not the ones going abroad for spring break, yes?

Tuition can be very, very, very hard to pay for many students. It's incredibly difficult to come up with thousands of dollars of cash for tuition when taking a full course load and not getting money from parents.

ok, let me explain:

News reports umpteen thousand students complaining the they can't afford tuition fees

News reports umpteen thousand students rioting in London

News reports umpteen thousand students blowing vast sums of money on foreign holidays. Money they tell us they haven't got and which could be better spent on the tuition fees they tell us they can't afford.

OK, one key word crops up in all these reports: Student. Call me mr glaringly obvious if you will but i figure that makes a connection.

i don't give a fishes tit if 8000 does represent a minority or not. If we went back to student subsidies, these 8000 would be the first to get their snouts in the trough and it would be coming out of the taxes I bloody work hard to pay. does that piss me off? You betcha.

i couldn't give a flying f*** at a rolling doughnut whether the news is reported in the sun, the grauniad or on ronald macdonalds happy news page, the things mentioned above happened.

make 'em pay. make em earn their education.

This is a really common fallacy. Don't feel bad for making it.

The students in these respective groups are generally not the same students.

I am a student struggling to pay tuition. I know many people who have had to drop out of university because they literally could not afford to pay tuition.

It does not do our societies any good to have good, smart, productive kids dropping out of school because they can't afford to go.

Call me mr glaringly obvious

i would call you glaringly gullible.

let me make this simple for you.

there were hundreds of thousands of students protesting, a small minority caused problems.

take one of the early protests for example, 50,000 showed up and a whopping 50 or so were arrested, that's a whole 0.1 arrest rate, or in other words 99.9% were not arrested

so yeah there was violence unfortunately, but like most protests it was the minority that caused the problems, its the gullible fools who read the sun (and other such s***e), who only report the worst, that believe the protests were majorly violent, even though they were not.

so yeah feel free to be against tuition fees, but using the so called violent protests to support your views is completely stupid.

and now onto the holiday makers, you don't even know if any of these people were even at any protests let alone part of the small minority who were violent, so trying to connect these people to the student protests and small amount of violence that was present, is also stupid.

The ones not going on the ludicrously named spring break probably are the ones earning their way through university. good on them. no problem with those at all. they will probably get good degrees because they show they are prepared to put in the graft. they still don't get any support because they are working so they can afford to pay.

So some of them really can't afford fees. Well, you can be sympathetic with them but hell, nobody ever said life was fair. Welcome to the harsh reality of the adult world. Nobody is entitled to a university education by right.
