We've got our profiles or in other words our "walls." We've got our friends lists. We've got the "home feed" which is basically the main page where you read all the threads by everyone. We've got our "groups" or "pages" which are basically some select threads that people post in if they agree with it. We've got our "albums" which are the pictures we all upload. What else? We've got all the information about us on our profiles. We've got our journals which are kind of like "status updates."

So what do you think?

I think so. I think it's actually more effective as a networking site than Facebook is. Facebook confuses the heck out of me because I can't figure out why I'm getting news about one of my friends talking to someone I don't know. Plus I keep getting news updates about the stupid Facebook games my friends are playing.

I'm aware that people have conversations on Facebook, but it just seems so much easier here. Plus, you have a way to find a conversation you'd like to be in, not just happen by one. Maybe I'm just not Facebooking right.

the only thing is chances of me finding someone i went to school with on here are very very slim. Unless of course gazillions of people joined and put their real locations on here.

Yeah I guess so, in the technical sense. It's just a social network of people you don't actually know (not so different from Twitter in that respect). Only here it doesn't cause massive drama if you disagree with something someone posts, which it would on Facebook. And nobody has to tend any stupid invisible farms.

Any site where people interact with each other is a "Social Networking Site".

I don't use this place as a means of socialising with people who I might like to consider friends. To me, it's a forum for the discussion of topics of interest, nothing more, nothing less. There are some people whose opinion I value and some whose opinions I think are ridiculous. No doubt the same applies to other people about me.

Ho hum.

The bottom line is.... does this site fulfil your expectations of it.? Presumably, because you keep coming back, then it must do, at least to a certain extent.

Now..... let's see what's being discussed elsewhere on the site.

That made me laugh out loud. Good thing I didn't have a drink in my mouth. It would have been all over my keyboard.

Why deny it? It's mostly 'long-distance' social....

Yes, apparently I've met either my long lost, yet older twin...or my future husband here. I'm not sure how that's going to work, as I'm currently married but...whatever.

Its social yes, I'm not really sure its so much with the networking.

I just see forums as different that sites like facebook myspace and the others. As the interaction is more about the topic of the forum, than the connections people make. The action on profiles here is secondary to the action of the topic discussions. TFS is just more varied in the subjects as it has a little bit of everything, that some forums that are about one or two subjects.

Relationships and connections still form, its just not the point. You can get by just fine at TFS by never updating your profile, never adding friends, personal information, pictures or blogs (journals).
