I have recently moved into a house thats not really all that old, probably built in the 50s or 60s.

I have never really believed in ghosts.

Twice now i've woken at 3:30am to my doorbell ringing.
I get up, look out my window (which faces the front door) and noone is there.
We have a huge fence around the property with a sliding gate that makes a loud noise as you close it, which was closed so clearly noone's been.

I thought possibly the battery is dying in the ringer so it is alerting me by going off randomly, so this morning I checked it.
2 problems with this theory, firstly, no batteries its connected to the mains.
secondly when I tested the bell, the tone that came out was nothing like the one i'm hearing through the night and it cannot be set to different tones.

Also I keep waking during the night and seeing my 4 yr old standing next to my bed. Nothing unusual in that, she has always done it, except that when I wake fully she is gone and when I go to check her, my daughter is snoring away in her own bed.

Lastly, the blinds in the laundry keep rattling like wind is blowing through them when the windows and doors are all closed and there isnt even any wind outside.

I haven't felt creeped out by the house at all, until now.
Do people have some lovely logical answers for me as to what makes this stuff happen, other than ghosts of course, cos I gotta live in this place for at least 12 months!

Well, the first thing that came to mind is that it isn't your doorbell that you hear ringing, as you said so yourself it isn't the same sound.

So that leaves the possibilities MUCH more wide open doesn't it?

I don't believe in ghosts, but there has been some funny s*** go on in this flat has baffled me. Who knows? If there is 'spirit activity' here, it's gone quiet here recently.

You never mentioned your partner in your OP.

As far as the doorbell is concerned, I'd have to agree that you're actually hearing something else. No clue what it might be though.

No answer for the child by the bed except for that it was a figment of your imagination.

I dont beleive in ghosts. Get rid of the doorbell. I think your brain is making you see and hear things.

It tries to put sounds and visions into your brain you are more familiar with than what you are actually seeing or hearing.

Yeah, there's been times I could swear I've heard music but I just assume it's my mind playing tricks on me.

When I lived in my old house with my sister and my mum something spooky happened.

I'd been at the pub with my mates and decided to make the journey home. Now this meant I had to walk through the darkened park to avoid going right round the primary school. The park has got a lot of trees. Anyway, I finally got home, a little spooked, and collapsed into my bed. Next thing I know I hear a man screaming constantly. Really loud. Definitely a man's voice.

Weird thing is though, only my mum and my sister lived in the house with me at the time, neither of them are a bloke.

Anyway, I closed my mouth and went back to sleep and the screaming stopped.

Never did solve that one.

there is no such thing as ghosts or spirits or demons or angels. You die and thats it game over, no coming back to play knock-a-door run or russtle some blinds.

Just some things I would check on first. Does your daughter have any toys that make that sound. Since she is up at night. And some toys have a tendency to sound automatically for various reasons. Next, check the blinds for good functionality. If they're mini blinds then the cord could be slipping the gear during any vibrations. Moths are also known to move things such as curtains or blinds. As far as you awakening fully and your daughter being gone to be found fast asleep, become conscientious of how many times you hit the snooze on the alarm clock. It may take you longer to rouse than you realize.

If, in fact, the weirdness continues after you have eliminated all of that. DO NOT attempt to communicate with anything (assuming there is anything to communicate with). It is best to fill your home with strong love and to ignore anything out of the ordinary. And if that doesn't do it, call on the clergy, not ghost busters. It may just be negative energy floating about.

Hope this helps.
