Why?

Because many people with a very left of center view do not agree with her politics and traditional views. They are concerned that Sarah Palin has risen in popularity with many Repbulicans and conservatives who share many (perhaps not all) of her views and the political direction in which she wants to take the country.

Ms. Palin is a political force and this drives Progressives and Far Left ideologues absolutely crazy. She is considered the worst of the worst by them. She did not attend the proper schools in their opinion; she does not keep the proper company, politically, even among Republicans; she hunts; she is a pro-life supporter; she is a member of the recently founded Tea Party and she believes in a strong military. There are more issues than this, though.

Ms Palin is far from an idiot. Her positions and speeches do what she intends and that is to show the positions of Progressives, get a reaction from them, all of which tends to solidify center, center-right and right side voters to drift further from Far Left activists and ideolgues. Her voice is irritating, though. She needs to work on that. Too high an octave.

I wouldn't call her an idiot but I disagree with pretty much everything she says.

She's very smart, and quite savvy as well.. And that's well evidenced by her bank account.

She left politics, jumped onto the tea party bandwagon and made 12 million dollars as a result last year.

I don't believe that she's sincere though. I truly believe that she's in it for the money. If she was sincere, I could simply disagree with her politics, but because I don't believe that she believes what she's saying, I don't trust her.

I think she is probably quite clever in certain respects but rather uncouth and not particularly clever in other respects. I wouldn't give her a blanket term of being an 'idiot' but I do believe in a lot of respects she is.

Angels and Demons

Early in the 2008 campaign, when John McCain?s aides discovered that Alaska-size gaps existed in Palin?s general knowledge (among those previously unreported: she had no idea who Margaret Thatcher was), they from time to time would give her some books to read in hopes of improving the candidate?s learning curve. On one such occasion, Palin accepted the books, set them aside, and for the next 25 minutes was held rapt by one of her three BlackBerrys.

Eventually, an aide asked, ?What are you working on??

?I?m reading these great e-mails,? she said, ?from the prayer warriors.?

I think this sums up my thoughts on her as well perfectly.

Well, I think there are a lot of people (obviously by her bank account) that do agree with her BASIC views. However, while I personally agree with much of her ideas at the root level (smaller federal government, less regulation, lower taxes ACROSS THE BOARD, etc), I think a lot of others are like me in that believing that she is good for a cheerleader, or introducing serious candidates, etc., but simply doesn't have the intellectual or political depth to be a serious contender of any upper political position.

Nope, I'm middle ground all the way and, for the most part I think that any one that far to the left or right are all idiots.

I thought long and hard about this election, and McCain almost had my vote because he was middle ground, but then, when he really started running, he was a republican through and through, and although I am very much middle ground, I would rather a socially conscious (imo) candidate (and my view of socially conscious leans to the left) which is why in the long run Obama got my vote.

lower taxes ACROSS THE BOARD, etc)

It's been my experience that every time I've heard a republican say that, they mean lower taxes to everyone making as low as 150,000 per year (still upper middle class) and raise taxes to the average middle class and cut all funding to those who really need it (the poor). All while destroying the economy because there is literally zero money going towards the deficit.

I'll second that. I don't think she's ready for prime time, as well. She may have found her niche, though, in moving groups of people toward exactly what you state above.

Sarah Palin? Which one? Sarah Palin clones are campaigning in a dozen of races.

I find the notion of a brainless Palin rather fascinating. People involved in politics tend to be brainless. During a recent election, I asked every activist, which I met, this simple question.

What limits the laws, which the congress can make?

People looked at me that I had just landed from Mars. Very few had any inkling of what I was asking?

Well, if you're referring to politicians as being the brainless, then it doesn't say much for any of the rest of us anywhere, because we for the most part, we buy their rhetoric and put them in the office.

Read Article One of the US Constitution if you want an idea of the limits on Congress regarding the laws they can pass.

Yeah, Article One sounds like a good answer. Other answers that to me seem reasonable are: The Tenth Amendment, The Supreme Court, The Amendment Process, or public outrage.

I asked a clerk in my Congressman's office. A few weeks later he sent me a copy of the Constitution.

I asked one candidate for Congress. She said to me, "Well, I have a copy of the Constitution here. Maybe I can read it and find out.?

My absolute favorite answer came from Ravi, my long time babysitter. With his Scotch in one hand, his cigar in the other hand, and the Racing Form in his lap, he looked over his glasses at me and said, "The f***ing Constitution, Sweaty, the f***ing Constitution."
