@Junkyard_Jim Said
The satan reference was reported here. It was more comic banter about President Obama having a problem with flys (insects) that kept landing on his hands or face during photo shoots and a rat that scurried along the White House steps toward (instead of away from) his speaking podium when he was giving an speech. No one took that seriously here except for those so far left they feel the need to defend him against all.
All that really says is that he has compared Obama to Satan or claimed that Obama is Satan atleast three times because I don't think what you're referencing is either of the situations, I just posted.
@Junkyard_Jim Said Beck has every right as an American citizen to make any comparisons he wants of a current presidential administration to any other political operation that has existed. Up to the listener to determine if he is serious, semi-serious or sarcastic. Most of us can draw the distinction.
I'm not disagreeing that he has the right to make such comparisons. I am saying that he shouldn't make such comparisons. Just as the Phelps family have a right to protest funerals.
And on the note of serious, semi-serious and sarcastic, I would say that from what I've seen of the show probably %80 of his comparisons to Hitler and Stalin are serious ones.
@Junkyard_Jim Said The implication of killing. Agreed. Sounds over the top. None of us would want to believe any of our elected representatives would be capable of committing or sanctioning a murder, right?
They absolutely would but I doubt they would do so to a Television presenter. Beck's constant claims that the government are out to get him are comparable to the most paranoid ravings of a schizophrenic.
@Junkyard_Jim Said Actually, Obama is a student of Saul Alinsky. He does favor social democracy, although pushing it to Marxism/Communism is admittedly a stretch.
Well his policies have barely even been enough to call social democracy. I mean I'm not an expert on the healthcare bill but it seemingly didn't bring about universal healthcare. I would say he is more third way, social democracy at a stretch. Claiming that he is a communist puts it completely out of perspective and so I will do what I always do when such a claim is made and post a political compass.
Beck's political views are irrelevant in determining whether someone is a communist or not. Simply being to the same side of someones political views does not mean that they follow the ideology of the fringe of that side. For instance Obama is more right and more authoritarian than I but that does not make him a fascist. Likewise, because I am more right wing than Stalin does not make me a neo-liberal.
Beck proclaiming to be a libertarian makes no difference as to whether or not other people follow certain ideologies.
@Junkyard_Jim Said Obama has stated he believes in "collective salvation" and that is a term that sets many Christians on edge. Look it up if you're not familiar with the political ramifications of the term. Religiously, it refers to Lucifer in the OT, but politically, it takes on a rather dark meaning for a democratic republic like the U.S.
I couldn't find anything reputable on it. What would you say the dark meaning "collective salvation" would have for a democratic republic?
@Junkyard_Jim Said Again, he makes his money from entertainment and most people who listen to him take in some of what he says and discounts some of what he says, just like with anything else. He does not appear to have a lunatic fringe and he's never espoused violence. Gotta take all this with a grain of salt.
Hmmm it would be hard for him to have lunatic fringe supporters when he is part of the lunatic fringe himself. Him having entertainment in his show is no excuse for the blatant dishonesty that he constantly produces.
