I've been on a quest for the best way to make "falling off the bone" chicken & ribs.

I've tried a couple different methods.

Method # 1 Smoke box.

Pros-Good Flavor, Other than that...
.

Cons-Meat still tough, constantly have to monitor the heat temperature, More expensive (charcoal, lighter fluid, etc)

-grilling/smoking is a pain in the rear and has a large learning curve

Method # 2 Bake

Pros- Season meat to desired taste, place in glass pan with a little water, cover wi/ aluminimum foil, set to 350 and forget about it for 2 to 3 hours. constant temperature. no monitoring needed.

Meat is guaranteed to fall of the bones.(even the toughest, cheapest meat)

Cons- Well can't think of any at the moment.

Hands down

Baking is my method of choice.

I absolutely hate to cook; so couldn't agree with you more!
It's way easier to just throw something in a pan, open the oven door, and toss it in.

I do however, love the flavors of a good barbeque. Lucky for me that my hubby enjoys cooking/grilling and all that jazz.

I love grilling. There's absolutely nothing like the scent and flavor of grilled BBQ chicken. If it were an option, I'd grill every single meal I eat from now on.

Well, I have to be difficult and say that I like both methods equally well. Some things are just best one way or the other. For example, you wouldn't bake a porterhouse steak if you had a grill available. Nothing beats the flavor of a sockeye salmon stuffed with slices of lemon, tomato, and onion, and baked in the oven.

So I didn't vote.

and a tip that may help with the chicken and ribs on the grill, simmer them in seasoned water, and then marinate well before grilling at low heat. That way, they don't wind up black on the outside when they're falling off the bone.

I like ribs blackened quite a bit on the outside, when the bbq sauce gets all blackened and baked on. EMMMM!!! Had some like that a few weeks ago on my last camping trip.

I guess it really depends on what you're cooking. Sometimes things just taste better off a grill... Personally, especially when the weather is nice! When it comes to meat falling apart, I love my crockpot!
