If employers conduct ONLY phone interviews and do NOT ask for anyone to fill out that EEOC form then maybe they will be doing much better towards a diverse workforce than affirmative action.
Affirmative action tends to push those of ethnicity and i can't see that helping either. If i were a person of color i woudln't want to get a job 'because' i was a person of color, I'd hope I was the most qualified. Because if i was not then i might not do myself or the company much of a favor if i got the job and didn't do well because someone overlooked that i lacked certain skills.
Do phone interviews only and then maybe the best and most qualified will start getting jobs.
Overweight people are also discriminated against a lot, and phone interviews would also nip that in the bud. And I don't even think this is considered a protective class so this group of people gets NO fair treatment in many cases. People with a disability that is easily identified visually would also benefit from this. If a person can do the job as stated in the requirements, it shouldn't matter what they look like or their color, but the system is either biased unfairly towards one particular group, or another, and neither bias is fair. Remove the visual component and maybe fairness might be more apt to happen naturally.
I dont know WHY they need to SEE the applicant.
