The real hero's of this Nation
May 02, 2010 @ 05:50:39 pm
Yesterday I had the privilege of standing next to Senator McCain, Senator Lieberman and secretary Gates as the secretary Gates handed my father in law his silver star...

It took 45 years and a movie by Mel Gibson to finely give the real hero's from the Vietnam war their due...

I stood there crying while lessening to Sec Gates tell the story of how six helicopter pilots risks their lives to save those who had fallen in battle ...when even the med-vac copters would not go in to help...

If you ever get the chance to see the movie ..We were solders...

watch it it is a true story about these men...

Daddy Ken I am so proud of you ..and even more proud to be part of your family for last 26 years...

I've seen the film, underneath the Hollywood glitz, it really is a story of wartime courage and valour.

You are right to feel proud.

I guess Colin Powell put their names in for the award after seeing the movie and doing research on them...the six didn't even know they were up for the medal until about two years ago...

Thank you for your kind words
