I want to block the Politics forum, but I do still like reading other news that people post there that isn't about politics. I don't really want to block it all, just the politics. Not all news is political. Can they be separated into two forums?

I kinda like this too.

Maybe re-name the main forum News and Current events, and rename the Elections subforum to Politics That way that can be separate like abortion, and racism and the other controversial or circular arguments people wish to frequent or avoid.

Try it out for a while, that way there would not be much reprogramming to do. The US election forum is not getting much action anymore.

I actually think it's useful as it is as the vast majority of news stories are political stories.

Can you block the individual forums? Like block 'US Elections' and 'UK Elections' for example, but keep the actual news bit?

You can block sub-forums and main forums separately. so blocking in the news & politics main one ones will still still allow you to see the sub-forums of say abortion or animal rights.

I don't think that's true actually. I mean, Google news (US) has:

U.S.

World

Sci/Tech

Business

Entertainment

Sports

Health

Spotlight

Elections

Out of 9 Categories, 3 are either political or mostly political. The other 2/3 of the news is specifically non-political.

Had the U.S elections been having action before? If not, why not get rid of that section and if people want to talk about it they can make a journal or two about it. Just my two cents. Now please don't fight with me about it.

Discussing politics in a journal format with the different journal posting rules would be a nightmare.

Us elections was really active during the last presidential elections, but there won't be another bout of major elections until Nov.

The journal owner would just delete any dissenting opinion, it would become so unbelievably biased with no hope of anyone gaining any new perspectives whatsoever.

I was just saying journal cause it was the only area I could think of. But if the election forum is not really used. Why not just gt rid of it? It may save some space maybe.

How about taking the US Elections and UK Elections forums and changing their names to US Politics and UK Politics?

Then change the Forum title to News and Current Events?

I'd still like to be able to delete other peoples posts though..
