I was on my favorite multiplayer game site when I was invited to play from a person in Egypt. The game wasn't even going good yet when he starts to chat with his name and country and then ask mine. When I said USA he came back with "WOW, New York City!" I said New Mexico .
his reply was " How?" Mexico is not in USA!
I said it was the state between Texas and Arizona. He called me something that didn't look nice typed in that chat window and stopped the game right then .
Maybe I should have just let him think New York was just another name for USA . ya think ??

Have you ever been ordering something over the phone and all went well until you said New Mexico and then had to try explaining that no it didn't need to be shipped out of the USA and so didn't need to have air mail charges applied.

No never had that problem personally I did have to convince my cousins that we have running water & electricity. And when I worked at this hotel in Santa Fe we heard this guy telling someone on the phone that "nobody here speaks any English"

I don't leave the ranch very often and hadn't seen the new plates. There's 45 miles of open highway between my place and town. Yesterday when I went to Belen I kept seeing all these different plates and couldn't make out what state all those cars were from till I got into town and traffic was slow enough so I could read the plate.

My grand dad was post master of a 3rd class post office which was in a corner of the front room in the house. One day a car with Mass. plates pulled up and the guy came in to ask my grandma if she spoke English ad if so how much farther to the US border. my grandma couldn't speak Spanish but said later she wished she could . This nut was 200 miles inside the USA and had just walked into a US Post Office flying the red white and blue American flag over the place.
He acted like she was lying to him when she informed him the border was 200 miles south of where he was.

Hehe. You're forgiven. They are pretty hard to read too.

Oh, I misunderstood what you meant.
I spent a week one October during Biketoberfest in Daytona Florida one time and if you had met me at the airport going home i would have described Florida a wild reckless kinda place with very few morals. But i would have been grinning from ear to ear when I said it.
