Why not? Surely since it's authors had such prophetic predictive powers, and received such divine revelations about the coming of the messianic warrior-king who would save the Jews, and about the future of humanity and all that, they would have known that their book was going to be included in the canonic collection that would later be called the Holy Bible.

And yet, in all the books of the Bible, there is no mention of them being part of the Bible. The books which have been canonised by the Church are considered to be the truly divinely inspired ones, and the apocrypha are not. Yet none of them, apocryphal or canonised, mention the Bible or their eventual assimilation into it or disinclusion from it.

I think this is quite a good reason to believe that the books are not divinely inspired. The Bible is a collection of arbitrarily chosen books which were politically convenient for the early Church to endorse, they were not canonised because they are the 'right' ones and the others are 'wrong'. They are all wrong.

What are they wrong about?

They are wrong about the nature of God (if God exists), the history of humanity, and the geological history of Earth. That's three things I can reasonably be sure about.

Nice of you to side-step the important issue by focusing on a single irrelevant statement of my personal opinions in the OP. Do you have any explanation for why the authors of the Bible were oblivious to the fact that their writings would be part of the Bible?

Seriously, if you believe that what you have come up with is an important issue, then you are more blind and deaf than previously thought.

Your first sentence above reflects a man who does nothing other than sit on a fence. Hypocrisy on one side, ignorance on the other.

IS this following bit wrong?

Isaiah 53
Who has believed our message
and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?

2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

3 He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.
Like one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

4 Surely he took up our infirmities
and carried our sorrows,
yet we considered him stricken by God,
smitten by him, and afflicted.

5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.

6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.

7 He was oppressed and afflicted,
yet he did not open his mouth;
he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before her shearers is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.

8 By oppression [a] and judgment he was taken away.
And who can speak of his descendants?
For he was cut off from the land of the living;
for the transgression of my people he was stricken.

9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
nor was any deceit in his mouth.

10 Yet it was the LORD's will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
and though the LORD makes [c] his life a guilt offering,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.

11 After the suffering of his soul,
he will see the light of life [d] and be satisfied [e] ;
by his knowledge [f] my righteous servant will justify many,
and he will bear their iniquities.

12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, [g]
and he will divide the spoils with the strong, [h]
because he poured out his life unto death,
and was numbered with the transgressors.
For he bore the sin of many,
and made intercession for the transgressors.

God bless you.

Bill ,I didn't agree with everything you said(the last part) but it is really insightful, and kudos for that!
Just because I don't agree, doesn't mean that I'm one hundred percent right either.

No mention of the Bible in there, aquine. Keep searching.

Oh, wait. My bad. You weren't actually trying to contribute to the debate by showing me a Bible passage which contradicts my point, you were just preaching as usual. Why do you even come on here?

You are making the false allegation that the Scriptures are wrong. I am asking you if the prophecy on the scroll of the Prophet Isaiah is wrong.

Always remember, it was written seven hundred years before Christ was born.

This is my thread, which I started specifically to discuss the main issue in my OP: why isn't the Bible mentioned in the Bible? I think this supports my contention that the Bible is wrong about many things because it isn't divinely inspired, that's why I said it. I didn't make the thread to discuss the many other reasons why I think the Bible is wrong.

Get back on topic and make a relevant point, or don't expect me to respond to you. Why isn't the Bible mentioned in the Bible?

Your conclusion in the OP was that the everything in the Bible is wrong.

I am simply highlighting the falseness of this allegation.

Why isn't the Bible mentioned in the Bible? It is. There are many, many occasions when the phrase 'word of God', or, 'word of the Lord' is mentioned. That is what the Bible is - the word of God.

2 Samuel 22:31
"As for God, his way is perfect; the LORD's word is flawless. He shields all who take refuge in him.

See what I mean.

You have made a false allegation against the Lord. You would do well to retract it and repent.

God bless you.

You might want to work on your reading comprehension. He never said anything remotely similar to that.
