That's f***ing crazy. Death sentences for HIV-positive people?

HIV people are already under a death sentence. Now if they ignore that they are HIV positive and knowingly infect others, then the D.S. is appropriate. That is murder.

So do you think we are right in being in Afghanistan right now, even though that is not our war and they have done nothing to us?

No.

This is a different context, though.

The people killed in Afghanistan are casualties of war. It's not illegal for Afghans to exist. But Uganda is making it illegal for gays to exist. It's different.

I don't think Africa's corrupt governments will be turned around without the intervention of the international community; and I do not mean military intervention. I mean diplomatic and economic pressure, debt relief and aid. More resources for peacekeepers would also help in some conflict areas.

You seem to be forgetting about treatment and contraceptives, and jumping straight to a final solution.

You're using two different rationals for the same action. Stealing is stealing and killing is killing whatever way you choose to rationalize it.

Plus...what do you mean "people killed in Afghanistan are casualties of war"...yes, but they're dying because Afghanistan is at war with another country and not at war with us. Do you think its right to interfere against two other countries in a war unrelated to our reason?

What I was saying is if they know they are HIV positive, and continue to spread the disease without telling their partners or protection, that is murder.
Treatment slows the progression, but as you know it does not cure it nor does it prevent the transmission of the disease, so that is a moot point.

Um no, there is a difference between killing somebody deliberately than if they were killed accidentally while trying to take out a terrorist stronghold. Intent is everything.

Treatment is better than death. And most people in Uganda probably don't have access to diagnostic facilities and so they won't know if they are carrying the virus. Most don't even understand the disease because education is so dire.

Yes...but I think the right leaders need to be put in place first...half the time is the leaders that are corrupt and well, i hate it.

Actually what I think is that there will be no solution until Africa itself can get along with its own neighboring countries. Damnit, why can we force a mass election, take all those presidents out of office that can rule forever until death do them part, and ask people to pick new people with a higher turn around.

If only we could do that.

No one would be killed accidentally if terrorists gave up. Do you hate women? Would you have liked to see them continue to live as slaves the way they did before we showed up?

The result would not be worth the price of intervention; look at Iraq. No, if the lessons of the past decade have taught us anything, it should be patience and a higher value of peace.

Whose the one generalizing? All are slaves? Now you are forcing your morals and judgments on to others without understanding the reasoning's. You take the surface, find the most wrong and harp on it.

Before you speak, do you realize that I'm Indian and I have quiet a few Muslim friends and family as well as family that CHOOSE and happy with their lifestyle?

Jeez, wow now i'm a women hater.
