First of all, this is old news from April. There's probably a topic about it somewhere already but I dont' feel like searching for it.
Second, this report was ordered by the Bush administration, so I highly doubt it's due to "leftist" views
I didn't see this in April. So it isn't old news to me.
It really does not matter to me what administration it was accidentally published during
"An employee sent it out without authorization." (from the news report linked to by tino) the very fact it was written and published is WRONG IMO.
And they came out with one a few months before this one about left-wing extremists, with the difference that nobody noticed or cared.
@eL TinO Said
And your source Weird Nut Daily isn't exactly reliable.
World Net Daily must not be tino's cup of tea. Who Knew?
It is reliable enough to take anyone inclined to read the report to the report.
The very first sentence of the article I llinked to in my OP is a live link to the homeland security report.

And in any case, the report was pulled.
https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/may/14/report-citing-vet-extremism-is-pulled/
So it was pulled, but never retracted nor replaced .
Just pulled from public view.

Further, you put the term "potential terrorist threat" in quotes, as if someone had said that. Nobody said that. The report said that returning veterans might be targeted by terrorists for recruitment, which is something else altogether.
And let's also not forget that this report is not without precedence.
Timothy Mcveigh was a veteran.
Nobody ever insinuated that most or even a substantial number of veterans might be susceptible to such beliefs or actions.

So is 6 members of my family over the the last 4 generations , 4 out of the 6 fought in wars, starting with WW1 my granddad and my dad and an uncle in WW2 and a nephew in Iraq. And not one of them was / have ever or are inclined to ever hook up with the enemy and try for a large body count in the USA. . so whats your point ? exactly ??
(underlined text)
It's exactly as you state.
I quoted the term "potential terrorist threat" from some place otherwise I wouldn't have used the quote marks, where did i see it , at the time I can't be sure ,
but it's not my words they came from someone else ,
but IMO
they aren't misleading .
