The Mental Health Parity and Addiction Act requires that mental health ans substance abuse benefits, if provided, be in parity with (or equal to) medical and surgical benefits for health plans that are sponsored by employers with 51 or more employees. This law is effective Oct.3,2009
and will be available to affected members on their covered renewal date (on or before Oct.15,2009)
Since this is a new law in the U.S., you should check with your own insurance co. concerning the benefits.
