In the buildup to the 2010 world cup, I was thinking about the three lions badge.

If the three lions had to represent the most influential England players, who would they be?

Nominations here, and then I'll poll the last 9 in a later thread, to vote for the final three.

So what you reckon people? Reasons would be good too, argue your case!

I'll post my own three if the interest in the subject is here.

I know Deano hasn't played for England yet, and he is about 40 now, he is like the Brian Clough of playing, the best English player England never had.

I am slightly biased in the fact he played for both the teams I support.

Realistically probably Bobby Moore, and maybe not Jack Charlton (only said him as we're related) um, who knows I always liked Allan Shearer as a boy.

It's like that guy 'Randy Bumgardiner' He's a former official at the White House, I'd hate to be him ordering take away food.

Randy Bumgardiner sounds like something Bart Simpson would come up with when calling Moe's tavern.

"Listen up guys, I'm looking for a randy bum gardener.."

Heh, cheers pal!

But even though the City of Hull love him dearly, I don't think he deserves to be one of three Lions!

I would def recommend David Beckham; a power horse, and one one of the few post millionaire footballers to actually give his all for the national team. And also, f***, just for this qualifying moment;

My three lions, based on the people I have seen play for England:

Alan Shearer
Stuart Pearce
David Beckham

All time, based on what I've read about them:

Bobby Moore
Bobby Charlton
Gordon Banks

Watched all England teams since '66. My three best are:-

1. Paul Gascoigne ( he could do anything with that ball, except drink it! )

2. Jimmy Greaves ( the greatest out and out scorer the world has ever seen )

3. Steven Gerrard ( the best midfield player in the world to-day with the possible exception of Messi )

I'd have backed Greavsie to drink Gazza under the table though.

I can't be the only person that thought this picture looked really dodgy.
