Hello, I'm new on here and I'm wondering if anyone can help?

My hotmail email account has been sending (from me) about six emails per night without my permission to my entire address book, some rubbish about a great new website (nothing malicious), but still very concerning and I suspect someone is hosting off my computer or I have a trojan?. Can anyone help me with advice of how to deal with this, or should I get my computer checked out and cleaned professionally?.

Please help, anyone that knows what to do.

Thanks.

Naah. It'll just be spam. Some companies choose random e-mail addresses and advertise to them. There'll be an option somewhere to block e-mail from certain addresses.

what you could try doing is change your password everyday for a week or so , i know it will be a pain, but it might help. if that doesnt work you need to scan your pc with "advanced system care" you can download if free and will will scan and clean everything on your pc, you may just have a spyware, i dont think it will be a trojan virus, they tend to do alot more than send a few emails. let me know if you need a link for the download.....mike

Spyware tends to send pop-ups on your computer. Not your e-mail.

spyware is exactly how it sounds, it can remember passwords and such and send info on to whoever wants it, most of them like you say are just popups, but you can get tracking spyware that can aslo duplicate bank details ect...mike

Spyware
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
Spyware is a type of malware that is installed on computers and that collects information about users without their knowledge. The presence of spyware is typically hidden from the user. Typically, spyware is secretly installed on the user's personal computer. Sometimes, however, spywares such as keyloggers are installed by the owner of a shared, corporate, or public computer on purpose in order to secretly monitor other users.

justa small section on spyware for you to check out....mike

Type "Recent reports of Account hijacks" (without the quotes) into google. There is an article on windowslivehelp, that's the article you need to read. I can't link directly to it, as I'm new here myself. The article suggests that it could be some kind of worm/virus, and gives appropriate links in the article to get you sorted.

Thank you Mike - I will try that very good advice. If you could let me have that link anyway, that would be great.

Thanks again

Wow, you've been so helpful - I will definitely try that. I did find that link you previously said about and downloaded it. It did a scan and found a fair bit that needed sorting, which it did. It's the only software I've found that was 'actually' free, unlike a lot of it that says it is, and then wants you to register and pay up.

You've been an absolute star - thanks you so much!. I will try your latest suggestion, as it intrigues me, and we all want to keep our computers clean, eh.

Thanks again Mike
