Thank goodness the dad opened that coffin !

a doctor at the hospital's birthing centre, said that medics tried to revive the baby for a whole hour. "His pulse was so low that it was undetectable," he said

Well, some doctor is in deep sh*t. I also think it's funny that they felt they had to show a map of where Paraguay is, so people would know.

I find it so hard to believe that with the technology and equipment today that they could have they could have worked to "revive the baby for a whole hour" and not be aware that he was alive.
Thank goodness that little boy's 'remains' weren't cremated.

I don't think anything could be more traumatic, carrying a baby to term to have it need resusitation then to be told of it's death only to have the high of it actually being alive and then the low of it dying a few days later-how would you ever get past something like that?

Baby Found Alive in Coffin Dies

(Aug. 10) - A baby who had been found alive after being declared dead by doctors has died in Paraguay, the BBC reported Monday.
The strange and sad saga began last week when doctors at a state hospital in Asuncion, Paraguay, told Jose Alvarenga on Friday that his premature baby had been pronounced dead shortly after birth, the Telegraph reported.
The hospital delivered the baby's body in a temporary coffin to Alvarenga's home a few hours later.
Mourning relatives were shocked when they heard the baby cry, The Associated Press reported.
"I opened [the coffin] to look at his remains and found that the baby was breathing," Alvarenga said. "I began to cry."
But Angel has since lost his fight to live, the BBC reported.
Officials are investigating to determine whether there was any negligence involved. The AP said that doctors also had initially told Alvarenga that the baby was a girl.
"This is a very unusual case," said Ernesto Weber, head of pediatric intensive care at the hospital, according to told the Agence France-Presse.

My heart goes out to that family . I agree with you unicorn that there could be nothing to compare to the emotional roller coaster that they have been through this last week. If there does turn out to be any negligence on the medical staffs part , I hope they are fired and black balled from ever working near any more patients ever !
