Pill popping has become so popular with pain millions of people are getting into trouble. There are better ways. This is from a great article by Web MD. I've used several of them and they really do work.
I'd like to add Gatorade or a sports drink. One night my legs would not stop twitching. My husband called the dr. in a panic. He said,"Any Gatorade in the house? Have her chug a lug." Within 10 min. I was fine. My electrolytes were off.

The first Eleven
From a simple ice pack to an acupuncture treatment, there are plenty of natural remedies you can try to ease your pain. Browse our slideshow and talk to your doctor about which therapies might be a good complement to your current treatment plan.
Capsaicin

Capsaicin is the active component of cayenne and chili peppers. Currently, it is used in topical creams to relieve chronic pain caused by shingles. It can also be used to relieve aching muscles, joint pain from arthritis, and simple backache.

Turmeric

In some Asian countries, turmeric is used as an anti-inflammatory agent. Scientists believe the primary agent in turmeric is curcumin which is just as potent, but has less side effects than OTC medications. Gargling turmeric, salt, and water also may relieve a sore throat.

Ginger is helpful in relieving pain from fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis. Research shows that ginger root slows down the production of leukotrienes and prostaglandins which are involved in the creation of inflammation and pain. Ginger can be taken in supplement form or it can be added to foods in your normal diet.

Holy basil, also called Tulsi or Tulasi, is one of the principal herbs used in ayurveda. Regular use of holy basil is said to reduce pain in the head and behind the eyes. Tea made from the basil leaves is also used to soothe a sore throat.

Arnica

For centuries arnica has been used medicinally. It is used in ointments and liniments for pain due to muscle strain and bruising. Arnica can be toxic so it should not be taken internally.

SAM-e

S adenosylmethionine, more commonly known as SAM-e, is a synthetic form of a compound found in the body. A number of studies have shown that SAM-e is effective in relieving osteoarthritis pain just as effectively as NSAIDs. SAM-e has been associated with mania and hypomania.

Fish Oil

Studies show that fish oil is effective in treating back and neck pain. Fish oil is a safer alternative to NSAIDs. It is also effective in relieving pain from rheumatoid arthritis.

Methylsulfonylmethane, also known as MSM, has been hailed as a cure for arthritis but this is based mainly on user testimonials. Studies have shown that taking 1500 mg a day of MSM can relieve pain from osteoarthritis of the knee. The long-term safety of MSM has not been verified.

Endorphins

Being active is the last thing many people suffering from chronic pain want. Studies show exercise can prompt the body to release endorphins, which in turn block pain signals from reaching the brain. Endorphins are said to be the body's natural pain relievers.

that's great, that gatorade worked so fast for you.
I think natural remedies, and even an adjustment of
diet and increase in exercise (a short walk) would
change turn many peoples' life around. This is great info.
Thanks for sharing, a reminder to those who already know.
