by someone who you had been in a long term relationship with and you had kids together. Would you take this seriously?

OMG!! That is a very immature thing to say! I would be having a very serious talk with this person when things cool down.

I would think that that person has some issues and really should think before they speak, but nah not to be taken seriously. They're just angry.

Hmmm, I would just assume that they didn't like me very much and ask myself why by trying to put myself in their shoes, then if it was my fault or there was anything i could do to make that person feel better i would. But if they were in the wrong and I'd done nothing, I wouldn't speak to them again until they apologized.
I can say that, because it happened to me the other day lol....Mind you the person was younger, I think younger people just like saying "I WISH YE WERE DEAD!" But i dont think they mean it...Adults do though.

Sounds to me like it was meant then, or at least they knew how to really get to you to hurt you.
Id say "F*&k them", because i would, but each to their own, i cant be doing with silly insignificant peoples attitudes anymore! Let them hate me

Probably; since most murders and violence is of the domestic nature.

Love this answer!

------

Knowing me, I'd probably say "Kill me, then!" In the heat of an argument, there's no telling what I'd say.

My reply was 'And I love you too!' of course in a very sarcastic way.

I was shocked but I wasn't about to let him know it hurt me.

This happened about 4 years ago and every now and then it comes back to me when he asks for a favour with the kids or otherwise, its hard not to throw it back at his face.

4 years is a long time to harbor something like that...
And your still feeling like saying it back to him after all this time?
I can't understand that at all.

"To forgive is to set a prisoner free and realize the prisoner was you".
"One forgives as much as one loves".

I look at this way (and maybe I need another way of looking at it) he essentially wished that our children grow up without their mother. To me that's a bit hard to swallow.

That is really beautiful, and true. One forgives as much as one loves. That is why I've learned not to take it to heart when people I love do horrid and inconsiderate things to me.

I let them know they've ticked me off and then I let it go. I might even laugh about it after a bit if it wasn't really nasty.

I've even thought that I wished someone was dead but I knew that I was wrong and I've never had the nerve to actually say it out loud. You can never really take something like that back even if you know you really don't mean it.
