Yes, there are "free" operating systems, but since wow is designed for windows, the overall answer would be No.

I doubt very much World of warcraft will work on Linux which is the only free operating system i know of.
then again i think you should stop being scammed by the bulls*** peice of s*** game.
you dont realise how bad those games suck untill you stop playing them, so i sugest you get linux and stop.
The distro i use: https://www.ubuntu.com/

Hold on.

You're not willing to spend money on an OS.
But you are willing to spend a monthly fee to play that trash game?

There are a hell of a lot of free Operating Systems.

Under the Linux category:
Ubutnu/Kubuntu/Edubuntu/Xubuntu/Gobuntu/Mythbuntu/Ubuntu Studio
OpenSUSE
Mandriva Free/One
Fedora
MEPIS
DreamLinux
FreeSpire
Debian
And a hell of a lot more I can't think of right now.

Not under the Linux category, you have OpenSolaris and Solaris, FreeBSD, NetBSD, and OpenBSD, and hopefully before long, PureDarwin will be out.
