Can you provide a link that isn't IMDB? Sorry but I wouldn't take trivia from there as credible.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gandhism

Theres lots of info on it, it shouldnt be too hard to find, its really a pretty well known fact that he used to beat his wife.

He admitted in his autobiography to beating his young wife, and indulging in carnal pleasures out of lust, jealousy and possessiveness, not genuine love.

I wouldnt let you put it off him, im just saying, Ghandi wasnt perfect, noone is.

The article itself states its own unreliabilty, this from an extremely unreliable website. Lots of universities don't allow students to use it as a source any more.

I'm not letting anything put me off tbh. A good point is a good point regardless if it comes from a hypocrit.

No. I'm just pointing out a fact. The site is unreliable as evidence. It may be useful for background but otherwise is a bad source of information.

Plus your Ghandi argument has no bearing on the statement. Frank Sinatra was reported to be a wife-beater, does that mean his music must be awful? Of course not. Kennedy was a skirt chaser - does that make him any worse as a president? No.

Also, this is a debating site. If you don't want to debate then go somewhere else.

Why do people vote? TO get the government to act. Its there job TO DO somthing so that people ARE NOT abused in the first place! Lol
Its THEIR fault for letting ANYONE take these jobs.
Solution?
Increase the pay for a start for the dedicated carers and enforce training for even the basic of carers. You cant just walk into a job as a carer looking after human lives with no training, its ridiculous....Mcdonalds workers get more training for sweeping the floor.

You haven't exactly explained to me how the government can prevent this sort of thing. They already do background checks on these people. Without turning into big brother, very little can be done. Pay is absolutely irrelevant.

And, for your information, people these days do have to train to become carers. I don't know where you got it that they don't have to. And if they are still training, they're meant to be under supervision.

Also, training and pay has nothing to do with the fact that some people are just plain sick and have no morals!

Also i recall mentioning that Ghandi was only human...still, even the least of us humans dont go around battering our wives, so he couldnt have been that great after all.

In your opinion, nothing can be done, ok fair enough, thinking like that wont change much.
I became a carer with no training and was under no supervision, neither was 3 of my friends, if you read my other post you would have noticed that i started work at THREE homes before my criminal record etc was even checked out.

That makes no difference. Whether he admitted to it or not has no bearing on this one statement. And he's not the only one to ever point that out. He's just one of the more famous people.

There's a difference between what we do at home and what we do in our professional lives however, I do agree on the not-so-great part. Ghandi wanted to set India up as a Hindu theocracy and have people ditch technology in exchange for the spinning wheel and traditional farming methods which would have caused thousands to starve. The theocracy part meant that India had to be split into 3 states causing major problems between India and Pakistan, mainly over the Kashmir region.

Careing for others carries great responsibility so it's tragic that the work has such low status and pay plus only minimal training. None of this excuses abuse of the vulnerable of whatever age. A very sorry situation for all concerned.
