If she didn't have a record then there would be no reason to stop her from getting the job. If there was no indication of this in her history then there would be no reason to stop the nursery from hiring her. To work as a carer you have to pass a police thingy cos I've applied for a carer's job before. Or was about to until I found out how long the process took.

What im saying is that anyone can take a carers job with no qualifications, so the job attracts a lot of people who have no interest in caring about other people at all but just want a 'job'.
And caring is a profession where if your not in it because your priority is to care and nurse others then you should'nt be in it at all....Life's, health and happiness of human beings and their precious relatives are at stake.

CRB check Chica, I;ve had about a million of them done.

Not all offences show on them either, it's at the local police something or other's digression.

They give them to ANYONE because theres so few who actually want the jobs. Low pay, poor working conditions are rife.

my ex was a carer in a old people home and some of her colleagues.... I wouldn't let my dog into their care.

Thats what im saying, the government needs to do something about it. Its the most important job in the world and also the hardest and lowest paid...Its fkn shocking.

Yeah I know. My grandpa's wife works as a carer as does my flatmate, a nursing student. I would have loved to have had that job, working with older people but I couldn't afford the wait, especially since I was waiting to hear about uni places.

Yeah but a history involving sexual assault on children is one that should show up.

They have to do them in some professions. They didn't do one on Huntly because he was only going for a janitorial position, one where he wasn't expected to have contact with the kids.

I'm really shocked about this. It's literally in the same area I live. I'm so glad I'm not one of those parents - I would be really worried about what my child might have been exposed to.

CRB checks only work if someone has a record or a caution. As long as she had the qualifications, good references and the right attitude, there's no reason why they wouldn't have hired her. Unfortunately, it's a risk we all have to take when we send our kids to be cared for outside of the home. And, sometimes, even inside the home!
