It is my opinion that it is the duty of the courts to overstep the "letter of the law" to assure justice and maintain the safety of the community.

I'm asking if my understanding of your statement is correct. I'm not accusing you of anything.

I'm not sure how else your initial post could be interpreted. You're saying that the courts should be allowed to overstep the law. To me, overstepping the law is going beyond the bounds of the law - in other words, breaking the law.

Please explain it more thoroughly then. Perhaps an example would help.

Overstep the "Letter Of The Law". Interesting statement. Now just how far should they overstep? And what would the outcome be? Anarchy? Justice? Please explain!
