Homeland Security on guard for 'right-wing extremists'
Returning U.S. military veterans singled out as particular threats

WASHINGTON ? A newly unclassified Department of Homeland Security report warns against the possibility of violence by unnamed "right-wing extremists" concerned about illegal immigration, increasing federal power, restrictions on firearms, abortion and the loss of U.S. sovereignty and singles out returning war veterans as particular threats.

The report, titled "Right-wing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment," dated April 7, states that "threats from white supremacist and violent anti-government groups during 2009 have been largely rhetorical and have not indicated plans to carry out violent acts."

However, the document, first reported by talk-radio host and WND columnist Roger Hedgecock, goes on to suggest worsening economic woes, potential new legislative restrictions on firearms and "the return of military veterans facing significant challenges reintegrating into their communities could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists capable of carrying out violent attacks."

So the "wackos" might be trying to recruit returning veterans who have to deal with reintegrating into non combat life at home.

The right-wing wackos have always been there. The right and slanted media and talk show hosts are whipping people up into a frenzy.

So now the government is going to look suspiciously at returning veterans that fought bravely for our country?

At what are these suspicious activities? Bumper stickers for 3rd party candidates, being a Christian, opposing ILLEGAL immigration, feeling there might be something unethical with abortion, and disliking taxes.

Apparently some other red flags are owning weapons, storing emergency food supplies, and questioning the government. I mean seriously? Is this for real. Remember the Patriot Act the democrats hated with such visceral contempt? Apparently its okay to do something similar as long as its pointed at conservative ideologies.

No, fractal, the government it not going to look suspiciously at returning veterans. It merely stated that right wing groups might try recruit such veterans for their own use.

"Returning veterans possess combat skills and experience that are
attractive to rightwing extremists. DHS/I&A is concerned that rightwing
extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to
boost their violent capabilities.
"

Nowhere in the report did it state that having bumper stickers that support 3rd party candidates or being christian or doing any of the things you suggested were suspicious. I would like to know where you got that. This is not an act, just a report stating some observations. I would also like to see where you got the notion that owning weapons, storing food supplies, and questioning the government are "red flags" for the homeland security. The report simply said that gun restrictions might anger some right wing radicals.

So wait, you're blaming Fox News for what Richard Paplowski did? You do realize how insane that is, right? The 1 responsible for Richard's actions is Richard himself, not a media outlet who, lets face it, does what the media has done since the invention of the printing press. As to the original post, I can understand keeping an eye on violent people but why focus on right wing ones? If there's 1 thing Liberals, Conservatives, Socialists, Communists, and Anarchists have in common it's the fact they all have violent extremists. Granted, Communists and Anarchists tend to have far more violent extremists than the others, but the fact remains they all have them. It doesn't change whether an ideology is good or bad, it just proves how crazy people can be sometimes.

Of course there are wacko's in any group. However- with the right beng out of power- powerlessness increases wacko behavior. And righ now- the conservatives are just all over the place and besides themselves. The fear producing rhetoric has increased to fever pitch and FAUX News is the leading trumpet.

Did you "watch" any of the links within the posted links?
FAUX news has gone way beyond reporting. They are cheerleading. They should just drop the news part and stick to commentary or comedy- both of wich they are not very good at either.
