What are the rules on TFS?
A complete list of our Terms of Service (ToS) can be found here: https://www.theforumsite.com/tos.php

I don't feel like reading through all that crap, no one ever does anyway
The section that the majority of posters should be concerned with is Section 3: Member Conduct. It would be really beneficial to you to give it a quick read. It takes about 2 minutes and might keep you from being punished in the future, since you'll know what you aren't allowed to do.

Also you have already stated that you agree to all the rules of the site by creating an account here. So it really pays to have at least a basic idea of the terms you agreed to.

What are the most common rules people break?
Basically:
Don't flame (or name-call), don't spam , and don't post racist, sexist, or other discriminatory remarks. It is also unacceptable to post any content which is "adult or mature in nature".

You should also check out what it means to troll . This is not good and you should not do it.

What happens if I break the rules?
You might have your thread locked or deleted. You might be verbally warned, receive an official "warning," be warned through a punch , or be given a short term or permanent ban.* If you get enough punchings and your points fall below a certain level, that could potentially restrict you to the Forumhole .

What if I'm not happy with my punishment?
Then you should read this . If you are banned and feel this is unfair, then either wait until your ban is up to complain or send an email to the site owner. Do not create another account, this new one will be banned immediately (see ToS section 3.19)

Are these rules really enforced, or is this just a formality?
They are really enforced. We try not to be overly strict but we like to maintain a friendly environment for those who do obey the rules.

--------
*There is no order or sequence to any of these punishments. Decisions are made on a case by case basis
