Journals, how do you see them?

I see journals as a person's diary, and something personal. I seldom read them, and post in mostly the ones I know. How do you people see them as?

From what I see on some there not all about themselves

If they didn't want anyone else to read them they would lock them to just friends or for personal only.

The journals are provided for members to post in when it's a bit too much concerning them to go in a thread.

People use them to express themselves more I guess... very much like a diary. However if they don't want anyone other than friends to read it they can set it so only friends are able to view an entry.

I just posted one on my diet, which obviously wasn't suitable for a thread, however also wasn't private or personal

I use my journal to rant about different crap. I do see others journals as being a bit more on the personal side. Say I see that Missy has written a journal , I will go read it because I know that most likely she is updating things that have been going on in her life. With some of my UK friends it's hard for me to be online at the same time so PMS and journals are our way of keeping up with whats going on in each others lives.

Each of us live a different life style. Some slightly different, others vastly so. I post a journal to tell what mine was like. I read some of the others. There's no charge should anyone read mine.

I just glanced at yours Crankshaft and found them a good read.

I often read my friends journals just to see how they are and how life is treating them. Often i dont comment and sometimes i am compelled to Some journals i stay the hell away from because they are written by lunatics, however its their space and they are welcome to it.

I keep my journals mostly impersonal, the personal ones i put in friends only. I delete most of them.

My journals are usually an account of my day at work or whatever. I'm a business owner so I have to let the steam out somehow. I've just gone through a divorce as well so it gives me plenty to write about . I used to write more journals but I just don't find the time anymore.

I just write any old random crap in mine - Sometimes I do things and they might not matter to anyone else but I feel compelled to write them down somewhere, and where else is better than my journal?

I don't put anything too personal in there, I don't like the thought of that being out there on the internet. My journal is pretty much for fun purposes and the occaisional rant about something or other. Sometimes it's just an update on how I'm feeling

I like to read my friends' journals to see what they're upto but like Treebee I don't always leave a comment.

Well, I only ever write in my journal if I want people to look in them and sympathise/offer advice/ laugh at something amusing that I saw or happened to me. I don't see journals as terribly terribly personal, or no one would post in them!
