I really loved Chopin's work as a kid and use to listen to the classical music station in hopes someone would play it. But I do enjoy classical. The piano is so soothing.

It's the most soothing of the lot. I love Chopin, too, but I'll quite happily put on any decent pianist whilst I'm dropping off to sleep.

I adore classical music! Mozart, Boccherini, Chopin, Strauss...I could go on and on. I love Baroque too. It's all so emotional and moving, each in their own way. BF and I like to listen to it while we clean house, cook dinner, you get the picture.

Side note: BF and I are going to the symphony in February. I cannot wait! (Anyone shocked that we actually have culture here in Oklahoma?! )

I'm with you there. I've promised myself for years that I'll do it and one day I'll get there. By this time I'll drag the family with me.

Enlighten me...what is the proms?

they are two completely different things.. and because of it things like Jazz IMO cannot be taught by sheet music. you have to be able to listen and hear the music.

but knowing how to read and play by ear puts you ahead of the competition too. I just wish I knew how to read music for guitar too.

Not shocked at all!! I love classical and it's music that doesn't get talked about much. Baroque is some of my favourite. Everything else comes and goes, but some music is there no matter what. And so it should be!

Every year, for a couple of months or so, we have a series of concerts called 'The Proms'. To precis, a conductor called Sir Henry Wood decided that music should be for everybody and he started the promenade concerts. Each year, the classical stuff is augmented by a growing body of other music. worth watching and listening to if you can.

I love classical music, especially when revising. I really like a lot of Brahms, Bach and Faure, and I love the dramatics of Hydn pieces.

I love Bach, in particular out of that list.

Just listened to 'Nimrod' (Elgar) which always brings a shiver and now listening to 'an ending (ascent)' by Eno which does the same.

Blehhh classical music doesn't appeal to me in the slightest, I can only tolerate it when my favourite bands have worked with orchestras.

I would love to be able to play the piano though.

P.S I can read tabs but it's so easy

I was raised on classical music. I didnt hear much rock and roll until I was in my teens. I have an appreciation all music... especially if it is well played. My favourite composer ... Mozart. My favorite composition... Don Giovanni(opera) Piano concerto 21(Instrumental)
