So they filed a lawsuit. If the strip club loses, it will have to pay some form of damages. But the goal is to get them to stop using the logo.

That's not the point. Copyright laws exist to protect the creators of franchises from the exploitation of copycats. If 'Stripper Idol' is profiting from the production designs developed by a different company - a company which has significant copyright assets - then that company is allowed to make a claim for some of those profits.
