My mom ran off with her boyfriend to the next town over, now I'm looking after my little brother and sister in a 1 bedroomed flat.

I've been doing this for the past year and have not got any money from her in child maintenance, I know this is a problem for a lot of people and was just wondering if anyone knew of a way to hurry the process along, I know she has the money, because I found out recently she got secretly married and went on a honeymoon round Europe last month, she and her new husband work full time. Its just she's making it as hard as possible for me to get it off her, I have a different dad to my little brother and sister but I didn't have much trouble finding their father, he paid it one time and then slipped away.

Any advice?

Anthony.

You can file child abandonment charges against her I think, for something like that...

In the U.K. their are child abandonment laws. If your siblings are underage it is a jailable offense to leave you. That's the worse case scenario; she could be forced into garnished wages, or garnishment of money she may already have. A public officer of the court or child welfare should be able to direct you in the right way. I'm not completely up on your laws, but there is hope;there are also subsidies from the govt. to help you until legal matters are settled. I don't understand how any mother could abandon her children. God bless you.

I also wanted to say, how fortunate those kids are that they have you there to take care of them, you are making no small sacrifice in being their caretakers.

Do u have custody of ur younger siblings. If not, I would start there first, but if u do, then u should be able to go to court and get money from her. Also, *I know here* if u go and talk to a case worker you can get help through the state, and by doing that they can also help u find the father.

Ur brother and sister are very fortunate to have you.

I am so sorry that you are being put is such a hard situation when you should be out enjoying yourself but you should be very proud of yourself for stepping up and taking care of your siblings. I hope you can get some help soon and that your deadbeat mother ends up having to pay and pay. God bless you for being the loving brother that you are.
